ECAC 2016-2017 Season Thread

October 1 is not that far away. Time to get cranked up for another great ECAC season.

Congrats to Quinnipiac for making it to the finals last year !!!!

This new thread is started on June 24th, 2016. It is intended to serve as a forum to discuss the ECAC and its potential for success in 2016-2017. The ECAC has some team specific and some systemic barriers to competing in NCAA D-I hockey but the league also has some strengths.

HE is usually our largest non-conference opponent.

In 2013-2014, the ECAC tied HE in head to head non-conference competition.
In 2015-2016, the ECAC bettered HE by one game in head to head competition

In 2015 we stumbled, having a losing non-conference record against every league except the AHA. We also did not win a single NCAA tournament game.

Our NCAA tournament record since and including 2010 is 20-17 with 5 team appearances in the FF and two National Champs. Not Bad. How are we going to do next year, 2016-2017?

Year ECAC record in the NCAAs
2000 1-2 F4 (1)
2001 0-1
2002 0-1
2003 2-2 F4 (1)
2004 1-3
2005 1-3
2006 1-2
2007 0-2
2008 1-2
2009 1-3
2010 1-2
2011 1-3
2012 3-2 F4 (1)
2013 8-2 F4 (2) - National Champs
2014 4-2 F4 (1) - National Champs
2015 0-3
2016 3-3 F4 (1) - Finals

North Dakota is a worthy champion. Let's see how much the ECAC can do in 2016/17.

A lot of transition in the league this year personnel wise, I see Harvard and QU atop the field again with Yale and Cornell close behind. Goaltending will be key for Yale and QU though, with new starting goaltenders.

Congrats to Quinnipiac for making it to the finals last year.It will be interesting to see if he opts to turn pro at season's end.Writing resources are guaranteed that grammar and spelling all will remain accurate and correct and a relief to the students while writing an essay.

Summer is an easy time to be optimistic about ones team. ..with that in mind... IF RPI can replace kasdorf I think they will be a top 4 team.

There does not appear to be an active Princeton thread, so I will post RPI blog Without a Peer's post about the Tigers here <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">New at WaP - Know Your Enemy: Princeton <a href="https://t.co/bGpuu6mUNx">https://t.co/bGpuu6mUNx</a></p>— Without a Peer (@without_a_peer) <a href="https://twitter.com/without_a_peer/status/771109413914497025">August 31, 2016</a></blockquote>

Should be Clarksons best team in years, a dream conference final four of Clarkson, Cornell, RPI, SLU would be nice for Placid and the league, any takers haha

You know, that isn't an unreasonable prediction this year. Those 4 teams should be in the mix come March, though each has their own minor unknown. How quick/effective they are in overcoming that will tell the tale.

SLU: new coach/system
Clarkson: frosh goaltender, lost some prime blue liners
Cornell: Who scores?
RPI: Kasdorf replacement/scoring

I expect QU, Yale, Harvard to be in the mix, but IMO they have bigger concerns than the aforementioned 4. Big losses to graduation/professional early departures.
