Dump Term 2 Part 5: He Didn't Specify Which Civilization Would Die...

Quote from Scott Pelley after being fired from CBS News.

"For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I've been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them."

That is a a mind blowing quote.

I certainly don’t, but I’ll still salute a person that gives the “leadership” there the finger and gets thrown out integrity intact.
Based on the context of the conversation as the public understands it, I'd say they were likely already looking for a reason to fire him and decided that confrontation was it.

It is how Fox News has operated since its inception. More broadly, it is the premise of rightwing media. They report falsehood as truth. Non-partisan viewers lose the ability to distinguish. Rightwing viewers, lacking critical thinking skills deprecated in their schools, accept the lie as truth since it fits snugly into their worldview. Later, when confronted with the truth, they find it cognitively dissonant and reject it.

That's how cults operate.

Every Republican since Reagan used this strategy. The fasc oligarchs are perfect for it because business relies on marketing which is the science of lying or muddying the truth in pursuit of sales. The Republicans merely adapted this to the pursuit of political power.

To be fair, the judge overseeing the case was going to throw it out anyway and the GOP just beat her to the punch.

His taxes, his family's taxes and their businesses can never be audited, and that's really all he cared about. His cultists fell for the grift. Again.

We can claw this back later. All we need is a real Court.

Just keep adding Justices until the majority are real judges again.
