Allies don't have to be cuddly. They need to be numerous and/or effective.

Once the movement stops being just talky talky and starts becoming acty acty, we will need every single person we can get.

I'm curious whether you're serious about this. Do you think Mainers would sit idly by if ICE came into their streets and shops and started rounding people up and disappearing them? They wouldn't fight back at all?

Because that is certainly not Maine's reputation as tough, proud, and while taciturn having a dogged determinism to resist tyranny.

Have they really gone that soft?

I doubt it. I think Mainers would skip the blatting about shame altogether and get right to the business of tossing these cowards out on their ear without wasted breath, John Wayne style.

The fasc are moving slowly through the FAFO phases. For the most part, our resistance is still bogged down in the last 50 years of ineffective pink pussy hat performativeness. Vigils and speeches and "Hey hey, ho ho." And maybe my cohort and Millenials will always be marooned there. But I think Gen Zers are a different doggy. I don't think they are going to just yap. I think they are going to bite.

Start with general strikes. Move to consumer strikes. Lengthen each. Begin with non-violent human waves, restricting the movement of the predators, using the sheer power of numbers. Film everything, silently. Get out of the fucking shot and let the story be told by events, anonymously and thus universally.

The people who work own the people they work for. The people who buy things own the people they buy from. They just have not realized it yet. A system where 99% of the people are getting the shaft cannot sustain itself, because even the hired guns who run security for those elites and make their meals and tuck their kids in at night are part of, or are from, that 99%.

We need a nationwide general strike. It doesn't need to be half or even a third of people. If 20% of the population across all work forces decided to stay home, those with the money would start shitting themselves.
If the last election taught me anything it is that money is the only real motivator in this country.

I suspect you’re looking at it differently than a lot of folks here are. You’re relatively well off right? A lot of folks here aren’t. I don’t think a lot of folks even care that much about government, fascism, whatever else. There are a lot of people just trying to get through the day.

There are people who for generations have lived a sort of hardscrabble existence, and been happy with it, but that way of life is under massive threat. In just the last 10 years ago the cost of housing has gone through the roof. I think a lot of people have a zero sum sort of attitude that every unit of housing taken up by an immigrant is one less unit for locals. Obviously there are a ton of factors for why people are in the situation they’re in but that is one that is easy for people to understand.

One thing to understand as well is people absolutely do not want a handout. There are a lot of people who would starve to death before they would accept help from the government. Change is hard.
 
I've seen the repeated comments that Walz has personally ordered the MPD, county sheriffs, and State Police to back off and not help the government.

Then I hear from Walz and the MPD commissioner that the Government has never reached out to them.

Then I see the Federal chucklefucks repeat their lies on TV that Walz and MPD are obstructing them.

Will Walz and/or the Minn AG sue these fucks for libel and slander? Discovery would be amazing.
 
Big difference between D1 and D2 in Maine. What Drew says applies to rural Maine D2, not so much southern Maine D1 where most of the population is. I think you see push back in Portland areas similar to the Twin Cities if it gets out of control??

Yes. Though I think consuming is our only real value now. We are grown like crops, not for our brain AA battery but for our purchasing.

A work stoppage and a purchasing stoppage are mutually reinforcing. Buying less shit = more money for needs. Less work = less income for shit. As the elites lose both our labor and our revenue, we create a virtuous cycle where prices drop on the things we need because while the needs are the same the amount of money washing around decreases. So we have lost nothing in the long run: they still have to sell us essentials and we only have so much, so they eat the cost of our strike. They get destroyed on their earnings reports. We build better habits and learn to reuse, barter with each other, remove activity from the corporate economy and move it to the human economy. We start trading services and we use our skills for each other, not them. We gradually pry the parasites off our bodies.

As we cut the cords and streams, we go outside, meet, start to talk, forge friendships. We don't need the fake friends of oh I dunno say the Cafe, we have real ones who we can go over and help move a sofa or fix a lamp. We get happier and more fulfilled and don't need to buy shit or anesthetize ourselves with content. We regain humanity and the parasites suffer.

And when they come to make us stop being human again, we have so many friends and such confidence we are ready.

The donor class exists because of handouts. Let's start with them.
 
Because of ICE being in town, we have officially been told to WFH until otherwise instructed.

Also, the big protest that took place on Friday, my office building would’ve been inaccessible when they move from MSP to Minneapolis proper.

More so, we’re home because not all of the people in our area are white (shocker!) and management decided that it’s not safe to send people into the city.
