Dump Term 2 Part 3: "But I Say Unto You, Hate Thy Enemies." -- Revulsions 5:44

It turns out to be cheaper to take over another country's oil production. Especially since oil companied are not paying for the invasion.
Well, it is sounding like the Oil Companies want nothing to do with the "take over". They are not sure of the condition of the infrastructure and the costs that would be incurred to get them up to par. Sounds like most of the execs feel it would take a long time before seeing any profits for upgrades, or making up for any monies lost when Venezuela nationalized the oil fields and kicked out the companies.

Surely our government won't foot the bill to modernize them.

The what now?

literally what cons have been saying. "bloodless" since no americans died

Even by that metric, it won't stay that way. Things didn't magically change because one person out of a dozens at the top of an essentially mafia regime is gone; the rest of the regime, especially the generals and still there. If they actually wanted to address that, they'd have to go in full bore like Iraq to de-Baathify it and of course that will make the casualties pile up. So yes, congrats to them that kidnapping two people didn't cost the lives of any American soldiers; it also accomplished fuck-all.

I also thought Venezuela's oil kind of well, sucks as far as quality. Edit: What walrus said

Yes. Venezuelan oil is grittier than the Alberta oil sands and would require even more processing steps and ability than we currently do for Canadian oil (and oil producers are on record as not wanting to deal with the Canadian oil because of the production process). I've seen that Venezuelan oil's break even point is close to $80/bbl which... *checks CNBC.com* WTI is currently $23 off that mark and hasn't been $80 since pre-inauguration.

Also, current oil rigs in the US are shutting down at an alarming rate, as WTI continues to trade at or below the US break even point.

China is going to take all of Africa. I was talking with a co-worker from Tanzania a few months back and he said that when Doge went in an axed all the global efforts the US was doing, China stepped up their game. They already had a foot hold across the continent, negotiating with the nations to come in, and were building infrastructure for the sake of building infrastructure. With the US exposure eliminated, China was expanding rapidly.

Oh fun, there's an old map from 1940 that shows the "Technate of America" where everything from Venezuela north through Canada, including Greenland are all one unified collective.

Of note, Elon Musk's grandfather was a peddler of this propaganda.
