DU needs to come out like they did last Saturday against Miami. Slow starts are hard on fans.:rolleyes:

How was it a bad 2nd period? I know SOG isn't the only indicator, but we put up 22 shots on net in the 2nd. (insert neg rep from MNS here)

So... was that game familiar for anyone? We outplay a team badly and lose on a Friday 3-2 (Omaha). We score twice on the powerplay but get nothing even strength and lost on a Friday 3-2 (North Dakota). We play a decent but game and lose with CBS Sports in the building (every game). Ugh....

And we at least had a shot at the end... after the stupid penalty by Oliver and then Bertsch following it up with hitting a guy from behind (I know he didn't mean to but you have to be super careful about that in 2015) I was telling the guys I was with "If they put up 5 minutes, this is over." Luckily it was just 2 and we had some chances.

Sidenote: thought the officials were mostly fine, but I am so sick of players intentionally knocking off their own net knowing full well there are no repercussions. Didier did it twice and honestly, good for him, he knows they're NEVER going to call it, so why not keep doing it? That bugs me as much as when refs swallow the whistle in the last 3-5 minutes and then people can play cheap as hell and get away with it.

Is there any chance 4 wins in the next 5 games gets us in, or is it autobid or bust?

If they win tonight, win their road playoff series, and win one of two at Target Center(remember, there's a third place game), I think they'd have a pretty decent shot at an at-large bid.

Also FWIW, SCSU outshot DU 22-11 in the second period, but shot attempts were a much more even 29-21 in favor of SCSU, 24-21 at even strength. So possession was pretty even, Denver's defense just didn't block anything.

The no-icing call on DU was even stranger

I've seen 4 knock the goal off many times. I think he got called on it at least twice in his time at DU. The best move is to knock the offensive guy into it.

I'm not even saying SCSU was way better than DU in the second period, just saying I don't think we laid an egg in a period where we attempted 29 SOG and got 22 on target.

By the way, Levin's goal was SICK. He has to fight hard enough to get a backhanded shot off in the first place, the rebound pops up in the air, and then he bats it in midair. If that's not an NCHC goal of the week top 5 winner AT LEAST then www.nchc.tv has no street cred. Oh wait...

By the way, what the **** is with us giving up someone's first goal of the year halfway through the season or later? That is a staple of SCSU hockey.

The best part of the game may have been Skeeter and Mrs. Skeeter on the kiss cam

Did they just install a new sound system at the HBNHC? I could understand everything from the PA system on Friday for the first time this season.

That was my biggest gripe about the place in my first ever trip to the NHC just a couple weeks ago.

Everything said over the P.A. there sounded exactly like the adult voices in all the "Peanuts" television shows.

They might as well not even make announcements over that system.

Yeah it was a remarkable difference. Everything was loud and crisp. Not sure if it was an entire new system or they just tweaked speaker locations/settings.
