DU @ SCSU Feb 7 and 8 Well, after the Super Bowl this'll seem painless

Re: DU @ SCSU Feb 7 and 8 Well, after the Super Bowl this'll seem painless

Wouldn't mind if the Pios scored 5 or 6 goals right off the bat so we wouldn't have another nail-biting 1 goal game.
And if Sam could get another shuutout--all the better.:D

Re: DU @ SCSU Feb 7 and 8 Well, after the Super Bowl this'll seem painless

Let's go SCSU...someone in the state has to get a win! Get a big win tonight and start building that streak.

Re: DU @ SCSU Feb 7 and 8 Well, after the Super Bowl this'll seem painless

I prefer to sit around and drink. Oh wait...that is the Wisconsin way.

Was at the game, saw both goalies play. Both goalies didn't play as horrible as the box score indicates, their was a nonexistent D for the Huskies this weekend. Considering all the breakaways and scoring chances UNO had, particularly saturday, they should have had more goals. Faragher did great in those situations. Where things broke down for him and Lindgren was when our D decided to play "Mite Hockey" and all followed the puck instead of staying in their zones and on their guys. Seconds later, a UNO player is found open for the tee off, pass goes to him, buries it! Very few goalies would have made those saves, let alone any in the NCHC. The D should be our biggest concern right. Lindgren only played a little, but he looked a lot less comfortable out there then Faragher did. Outside maybe the first goal on saturday, I wouldn't call a single UNO goal that weekend soft. Keep Fargher Between the Pipes!!!

Great call.

Really could have backfired.
Lindgren starting I have no problem with, but Faragher not even dressing was weird.

Didn't realize that--Weird, I agree.

Good series both in Denver and St Cloud. Would have been better if Pios had won tonight:rolleyes: But nonetheless, hope to see you again at the Target Center

Great comeback and much needed win for the Huskies. Dowd was a beast tonight. Very good series and likewise looking forward to playing Denver again in the future.

Great call.

Yeah... you really showed off your insight with the sample size of a thumbnail.

I am thrilled that Lindgren played well, as competition should make both of them better. This is still Fedz's team, but I'm all for a 60/40 rotation if it gets results

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I am using small sample size but one win and you want to make it almost a half and half timeshare? Where did I mess up?

I show off my knowledge of this program all the time and if you want evidence I can provide it.

Motzko was sending the message that Lindgren is the goalie, and Faragher isn't here to save him.

If Faragher had to be scratched in order to get Lindgren to stop looking over his shoulder, then that doesn't say much for Lindgren's mental toughness.
Whatever the reason, to scratch a healthy starting goaltender coming off a nice rebound performance the night before is very strange.

I think it was more for the other players and not for Lindgren. If Motzko wanted to give Faragher a night off, why dress him if he thinks Flipnasty can handle backup duties? I think you are reading too much into this.

You can think that if you want, but not dressing a healthy starting goalie,, for whatever reason, is unusual, and certainly something I've never seen.
And if Philippi was a capable back-up, he'd actually have playing time, he doesn't, so that argument doesn't hold water either.

Great call.

Lindgren had a great game, definitely much better then the last time he played DU. He displayed a lot more confidence in this game then he did in the little time he played in Omaha and in Denver. Great job on Lindgren's part, especially on the breakaway, and a key Husky win! I still maintain Faragher should be the main starter, but its good to see he can get day off with confidence that Lindgren can get it done and a little competition for the net now.

I got it wrong, Lindgren looked great. Do I think he DESERVED the start? Not from what we've seen in games, but luckily Motzko sees more than games. And you missed a very important part of what I said. "I'm for a 60/40 rotation IF it gets results." That part still needs to be proven. If Lindgren can keep up this pace, then absolutely, let him get starts. But that's a big if; just glad he took the first step.

Wow... I'd say you should look into getting some but it looks like you got yourself covered.

You realize I was only half-serious, right?

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I don't think Faragher isn't a good enough goalie to be the unquestioned starter every game if we have another good goalie. Lindgren was a pretty highly touted recruit, certainly more highly touted than Faragher was when he came in. I hadn't even heard of Faragher until his shutout against UND. Up to this point, he has started 85% of the games this season. No one has started that high of a percentage of games since Goepfert's senior season when he started 35 of 41 games. I don't think Faragher is as good as Goepfert, or Mike Lee or Jase Weslosky. If he is struggling, the coach shouldn't be afraid to play the backup.

The dumbest part of all this is that Lindgren played well and we won. So the coach was proven right. But now people are "concerned" because Faragher didn't dress? Who cares? We were losing with Faragher in the net, what is the worst that could've happened?

I have no problem with you saying Goepfert was better than Faragher, and talent-wise Mike Lee beats Faragher but Fedz' numbers are better and he's got a couple pieces of hardware that alluded Mikey. (Weslosky and Faragher's numbers are pretty close, but again, gotta go with win percentage and hardware)

And we were losing with Faragher? We have lost one series all year, we have lost consecutive games once, and everyone else in the NCHC has at least one and a half times as many losses as we do.

Yes, people were concerned because there was no reason that we're aware of not to dress him in JUST IN CASE. Luckily things worked out, but if Lindgren had gotten lit up, that could've been scary.

Player SV% GAA
Bobby Goepfert .924 2.24
Jase Weslosky .920 2.43
Mike Lee .917 2.66
Ryan Faragher .912 2.51

You can go with win percentage and hardware if you want, but that is obviously heavily influenced by the other players on the team. Faragher's numbers aren't better unless you are referring to winning percentage. And Faragher is the only one of these guys to play with a Hobey Baker winner or WCHA defensive player of the year, let alone both. If you use wins as the main factor for comparing players, this conversation can serve no further purpose.

Yes, we were losing with Faragher. More than we should have. We got 1 point out of 6 in a home series against the 6th place team in the conference. We went 1-4-2 over a 7 game stretch. Then won 2 of the next 3 despite allowing 15 goals. The NCHC isn't even strong this year. As of now the conference would get 2 teams in the tourney.

Still not understanding what would've been scary if Lindgren had gotten lit up. We lose a game? We have to put Phillipi in? The arena collapses? We are forced to forfeit our remaining games for embarrassing ourselves?
