Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

Got my last bottle of Darkness, from a drawing at Tournament Liquor. I count myself lucky to get 3 bottles. One of which I plan to use as trade bait. I'm hoping to find someone next spring willing to trade a bottle of 3 Floyds Dark Lord straight up.

Gurt: you wouldn't have spent that money, really. I would have paid you a nice profitable price for your bottle(s).

The next special beer out should be the BCS, and that's soon. Hopefully I get the BCS and not the BCCS (coffee). While excellent, I prefer the original.

Do they have that 40 year old Pyrat that I posted about several months ago, that you said you've tried? I wouldn't mind buying a bottle of that, I just don't want to spend the money. 10% off of that would be significant. :p

Probably still can't justify spending that much.

They do and it's $217 before discount. Shipping would probably be around $20, so you'd get the shipping essentially for free.

Saw a bottle of it at one of the city stores in Apple Valley and I believe it was $240.

The reason I've waited to order from this site is the shipping. The first bottle is like $20 and each additional bottle is just a couple of bucks so it doesn't make sense to order a bottle at a time and is a better deal to do a (my) complete order all at once.

Bell's Porter pretty good, a solid Porter not too smoky

Six Point Resin Double IPA Very good, not quite as good as their Hi-Res IPA but close.
I came across the Bell's Porter on tap on Sunday, it was OK but not quite as full-bodied as I expected. Like the Sixpoint Resin more than a lot of other IPAs.

Having a Saugatuck Neapolitan. First had this at the Autumn Brew Review (a beerfest with 100 different breweries) about a month back, just started seeing it pop up in stores lately.

It still is quite tasty. I was afraid I wouldn't like it as much, having a full bottle, instead of only a couple ounces.

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

I was traveling last week in Guelph, ONT for work. We were visiting a supplier and the owner of the company took us out to dinner at his country club. I asked what they had on tap hoping for an interesting Canadian brew, but what does the waiter list first? PBR!!!! What the heck? Seriously, PBR at a country club in Canada (or any CC)? Good grief I would have expected Bud or at least Labatt as the "cheap" choice. I had to settle on Guinness as it was the only decent choice.

You wouldn't have any problem making that trade right now. You could probably get DL and maybe additional for Darkness.

Hell, I'd trade one of my Darkness for a Dark Lord, only because I've never had DL, and I am curious. Toss in some Goose Island BCS, and I might even throw in a Surly SeVIIn.

I do all my trading on Beer Advocate and have had great luck including trading for DL in the past few months. Here is one of many looking for Darkness......http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/ft-fff-darklord-14-iso-darkness.224936/

I trade with people that I meet/road trip by-product/locally. However you want to call it. I don't do markets/ebay style. And BA, while a useful guide for beers in general, can go f itself. I dislike their snobbery.

Edit: BA is good for info on a beer I don't know about, such as style/ABV. That's about it.

I won't disagree with the snobbery on BA and most of it isn't up my alley. The irony is I drink a TON of craft beer and don't like a lot of the yahoos involved. On the positive I have found a couple traders that I have made multiple trades on the west coast and the southwest that have worked out well. I'll tell you what I would like to try Darkness so I'll see if I can find a taker for DL which I should be able to since I just picked up a bunch of Heady Topper last week.

Fine with me. The Darkness is amazing. Besides their special releases, I dislike Surly (which says something). While I think they do quality (regular) beers, they are just not my style. I CAN appreciate the quality of a beer, you know?

Oh, did pick up a 4-pack of Founders Dark Penance (Imperial Black IPA). I tried the Boulder's 35th Anniversary Imperial Black IPA this past weekend, and it was tasty (hate HATE IPAs and All The Hops).

Looking forward to trying this one out.

I just signed up...unfortunately they don't let you post in the trade area for 30 days after signing up.

Actually, there is no reason why we can't trade here, among people on this board, so I just throw out there what I have that I'd trade and if anyone wants to make a deal, let me know.

Available for trade:
1 Bottle of 2014 Surly Darkness (Bomber)
1 Bottle of Surly Seviin (Bomber)
1 Bottle of Clown Shoes Itasca Loonidragon (Bomber)
2 Bottles of 2014 Founders KBS (12 oz) <-Got 4 of these for a bottle of 2013 Darkness from melmac :)
2 Bottles of 2014 Big Sky Ivan The Terrible (12 oz)
2 Bottles of 2013 Central Waters Bourbon Stout (12 oz)

Some of these are better than others, and I don't know how rare some of them are, but I'm sure some are rare/impossible in other parts of the country

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

I still am offering to just simply buy your KBS, depending on price. :p

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

Tasted an oaked whiskey stout I made with some vanilla beans. Hands down the best thing I've brewed yet, rich, chocolaty, hints of vanilla and whiskey. One of those beers I wish everybody could try.

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

I have the following for trade:

Darkness 2014 (2)
Rum King 2014 (1)

Looking for:
Stagg (I'd also pay the difference, obviously)
KBS
Bourbon County Stout

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

Seven never really interested me. Belgians aren't my thing.
