Would $10 trillion offset the cost of a Mars colony? It's a romantic idea, but somehow, I doubt it's practical.

One of the most similar Earth-like worlds yet.

We're getting very close.

This world is at 1.1% of Earth's distance about a star which is the same temperature as the Sun. It has about a 50% chance of being rocky.

1400 light years. Stop arguing about meaningless iron age crap and start working on FTL, kittens.

Too late for us.

Orson Scott Card is a sh*thead, but I always felt his interpretation of space travel faster than light speed was plausible (even though I only made it through the first two Ender books).

It's not too late for the species. Even if the Great Bifurcation has to happen and the small brains get Left Behind for real, we have to get all the eggs out of one basket.

"Great Bifurcation"? Well, I can only assume this is some sort of "Purge of the Non-Intellectuals", so I'm definitely fit to be purged, since I can barely find anything on the topic. :p

"Intellectual" is a loaded term. Call it "the test of being human," instead. The last may well be first -- as long as we get the genetic code off this rock it's doesn't matter.

I like this planet!! The small brain types should be the ones who have to get off of my rock.

Don't worry. Leave them alone on it for a generation and they'll wipe each other out. Then you can take it back.

But you're looking at about a generation or so just to get to that planet, and and probably 2 generations or so to turn the spaceship around to take back Earth.

You know what? With what you've demonstrated with this post, knowing that the planet is 1,400 lightyears away, and that we've yet to attain the speed of light, and even if/when we do, how long do you think it would take to travel that far? You might want to rethink with which group you should be included. Just sayin'.

That was of course assuming that we've developed Faster than Light or Warp engines by then.

Well, then we'll just tell them it's Heaven. They'll self-sort and we can just shoot the rocket into the sun.

Made a mistake and went into the local health food store yesterday, and I saw this: Hint Water

On the label are the following health claims:

-Zero diet sweeteners
-Zero calories
-zero preservatives
-vegan
-gluten-free
-non-GMO
-all natural

And people are actually buying this stuff.

As for me, I'll stick with the gluten water... AKA "beer."
