Dodge Holiday Classic Bowling Green @ Minnesota 1/2/10

Re: Dodge Holiday Classic Bowling Green @ Minnesota 1/2/10

In the past they would have a five minute OT. No one scores, it is officially a tie. Then, they have a shootout to decide who plays in what game.

I know we seem to have this discussion every year, and every year it seems to be a different set up.

I thought it was like that too, but I seem to remember it happening with a full 20 minutes in a recent tourney.

Frank just said it, 5 minute OT then a shootout. Maybe just the championship game has that different format. I don't know.

I dont trust Frank, even though he just said 5 min + shootout. He's nearly always wrong.

Re: Dodge Holiday Classic Bowling Green @ Minnesota 1/2/10

Your only two options under the NCAA rules are 5 minute OT and then a shoot-out (with the game ruled as a tie), or continuous 20 minute sudden death OTs (where the winner is ruled as the winner). My guess would be they do the former for all games except the championship game.

That is why you attack the middle. I jumped out of my chair when they passed it there, not the goal itself.
