The difference in the penalty numbers appears to be this 2nd period incident

I'm sure Pioneers#1 would agree that it goes without saying that we have to put Oswego/Utica near the top of this list. That 10-3 edge the Lakers hold over the last decade really doesn't tell you much.

With your mention of the fight happening in front of the SNC tunnel to their locker room, I do remember this one.....If I recall....another 'behind the play' Rampone special helped to percipitate this fight.

It's really irritating me that I don't remember this. I remember "The Plumbers" fight with Superior the previous year. I remember a really good one with Hamline in 2003 or 2004 starting when a HU player left the bench. There was also one with River Falls in the handshake line in 2003 (not sure any DQs were assessed), which was the same game Chancy Colquhoun got checked leading to a game-tying goal. Never have I heard the CCC faithful get up in arms as much as that night. Duthie's OT GWG blew the roof off the place.

That pretty much nails it. All that is missing is that Carl Antifonario was the goalie that shutout Plattsburgh and the bagels were also throw to "feed the birds"

I think any NCHA team vs SNC could make that list. Those always are the most heated and I would say from my experience the last couple of years our biggest rivals hands down seem to be, #1 SNC, #2 Stout

Wasnt at the game but the second meeting between the two last year was heated with an undercard and a main event.

Well, how about this game then? 24 penalties for 144 minutes. 10 of the 12 players on the ice got kicked out early in the 2nd period, including the Utica goalie, playing his first (I think) game, who skated the length of the ice to get into the action. One time I saw someone throw a shoebox on the ice and out came a couple of mice!
Not to mention I remember blue paintballs being thrown during one of the Oswego/Plattsburgh games at Stafford too!

Utica Vs. Oswego. Not completely there yet, but the overall series advantage is a bit decieving because every one of those games that i've been to has been beyond competitive. To the point where one small bounce has decided the game. add in all the extracurriculars, and the fact that you have the nation's top 2 attendance-getters, and it's only a matter of time before more and more fans realize we're onto something here. If Utica moves into the sunyac, which is likely, this is going to be a heck of a conference rivalry for years to come.
Utica vs. Manhattanville. Conference game that's a guaranteed knuckle duster.

There was the mother of all brawls between Norwich and Midd in the 80s at Taylor Arena. (I'm whiffing on the date here.) That one caused the cancellation of game #2 and the end of the annual home and home series. If it weren't for the ECAC East schedule, it would have led to the end of the series altogether.
Back in those days, the NU team wasn't quite as disciplined as the current team. I remember the next day coming to class and one of the big defensemen who got involved in the big melee asked me very proudly "well professor, what did you think of last night's game?"
