DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

CARDS_rule_the_Burgh

Nate LePage, Siena '13
Congratulations to Plattsburgh's Junior forward Eric Satim for neing named the first-ever DIII Posters' Player of the Week! With 6 points on the weekend, Satim led the Cardinals in scoring as they defeated Buffalo State and Frednia by a combined 17-2 score this weekend. Satim is also currently tied with fellow Junior Dylan Clarke for the lead in scoring for the Cardinals on the season, with 5 goals and 8 assists. Satim, Clarke, and the Cardinals will attempt to continue the powerhouse offense this weekend as the Cardinals face the Middlebury Panthers and either the Wisconsin-Stout Blue devils or the Norwich Cadets in the Primelink Tournament, undoubtedly the premier tournament in Division III hockey.

Now, on to this week. With a number of games already completed on Monday and Tuesday, the nominations are now open. As before, Nominations are due by 12pm ET Monday. Get 'em in, if your guy has already played.

Reminder of the rules, as determined over the first week of debate:
Code:
*Items to consider for skater: Goals and Assists, GWGs,
PPGs or SHGs, GAA of the opposing Goalie.

*Items to consider for Goalies: Saves, Save %,
Goals Allowed vs. Avg Goals per Game of opponent, Shutouts.

*At least one defenseman will be in the final poll, to
account for the difficulty for defensemen to stand out in this
statistic-based competition

Again, Nominations are due at 12pm ET Monday. You will then have until 8pm ET to argue for or against the nomination of a particular player. Based upon that debate, the final poll will be posted at 8pm ET Monday Night. The Poll will be open until 8:00pm ET Thursday.

Let the nominations begin!

I know its alot more work but maybe seperate the defensemen and goalies from the forwards and have players of the week in all 3 positions. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

Ryan Klingensmith, Norwich

0.53 GAA and 0.975 save percentage in 113:24 of play against Stout and Plattsburghd. He saved 41 of 42 SOG that he faced in the Primelink Shootout, and saved 7 of 10 attempts in the shootout to earn tournament MVP honors

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

Well, I was going to nominate Klinger, but since he's already been nominated...

I nominate Plattsburgh's Ryan Williams. He had a .972 save%, 1 goal allowed, and 35 saves against Norwich in 65 minutes of play. He stopped 6 of 10 in the shootout, and earned the All-Tournament team spot despite only playing one game

Also, I would like to note that Plattsburgh's final shot in the shootout missed the net... so Klingensmith ALSO only save 6 of 10 :D

He is my son, therefore I am prejudiced...

James LaCour (Sr. Salem State). 4-3 OTL @ #6 St. Scholastica and then a 3-0 shutout win over #1 St. Norbert.

Stopped 66 out of 70 shots.

Get 'em in, guys! Or are we going to have a poll consisting of only 3 players, all goalies?

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

How about Jordan Baird of CSS, who went 2-2-4 including the OT GWG over Salem St. Friday and assisting the GWG over Lawrence on Saturday?

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

Blake Forkey-Norwich-Forward

Hat trick against Stout Friday, scored on BOTH shootout attempts Saturday.

False he did however tie the game up in his second shootout attempt in sudden death shooters to keep wick alive. Chad Anderson was the only shooter to score on both attempts.

And since we're on the topic...

Chad Anderson-Norwich-Forward
Three assists in 9-1 win over #7 ranked stout. Scored as the fifth shooter in the shootout to extend it into extra shooters and eventually scored the game winning shootout goal to give Norwich its 6th Primelink title over #3 ranked plattsburgh.

Another goalie for consideration: Tufts goalie Scott Barchard went 2-0 on the wekend with 5-2 wins over Neumann and Castleton. Tufts was outshot 50-22 by Neumann and 32-25 by Castleton. .951 Save %; 2.0 GAA

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

Nominations:

Ryank Klingensmith (NRW), 2 games, 41 saves, 0.975 sv%, 0.53 GAA, 7/10 shootout saves, Primelink MVP
Ryan Williams (PLT), 1 game, 35 saves, 0.972 sv%, 0.92 GAA, 6/10 shootout saves, Primelink All-Tourny Team
James LaCour (SAL), 2 games, 66 saves, 0.943 sv%, 1.92 GAA, Shutout St. Norbert
Scott Barchard (TUF), 2 games, 78 saves, 0.951 sv%, 2.00 GAA
Blake Forkey (NRW), 2 games, 3-0-3, 0 GWG, 0 PIM, HT
Chad Anderson (NRW), 2 games, 0-3-3, 0 GWG, 2 PIM, 2 shootout goals, shootout winner
Jordan Baird (STS), 2 games, 2-2-4, 1 GWG, 0 PIM, OT winner

Good list. Goaltender-heavy, and and fairly cadet-heavy, but there's no rule against it! I know it's noon already, and the deadline is here, but do we have a token defenseman to add to the list?

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

St. Scholastica - Def. Jordan Baird 2 goals, 2 assists in two weekend wins, including game winner in overtime against Salem State.

Oh, silly me. I didn't even notice he was a defensemen! I guess we had all of our nominations in time!

In that case, let the debate begin! Who, if anybody, on this list doesn't deserve a spot on the poll?

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 11/23-11/29

Poll closes at approximately 9pm ET tonight! 26 votes cast, compared to last week's 44. It's a tight race between Lacour and Klinger right now! Get your votes in!
