DIII game notes

Re: DIII game notes

Does anyone know what happened in the St. Norbert-Adrian game when the score sheet talks of an Adrian bench penalty for too many players and a penalty shot?

During a scrum in front of the Adrian goal the puck was covered in the crease by an Adrian player. The result was a penalty shot for St. Norbert.

Re: DIII game notes

Plattsburgh up 3-0 in Cortland in the 2nd period. Kiraly, Sheeran, and Moriarty with the goals so far.

EDIT: 4-0 as I typed this post. Meneghin gets in on the action.

Re: DIII game notes

Hamilton 1. Middlebury 0. End 1. PP goal again. End of 2. 1-1. Shots are 27-5. Midd pp on a deflection by Sheline of a Watson drive off a Winslow feed

Andrea Rockey with the PP GW goal. What a great name! Bill must be going out of his mind right now. Isn't there something more the refs could have done to help his team win at home? ;)

I doubt it. Hamilton really seems to have had Midd figured out. They were doing an excellent job of blocking both passes and shots. Goaltender Walther was playing well, and the defense was denying any kind of rebound or followup. Hamilton coach McNamara played for Bill during their 3 NCAA titles era, so now the student has now become the master.

without his zebra friends, Bill and Midd are in trouble this year...They simply don't have the horses to win 5on5.

Re: DIII game notes

You ask that as if Plattsburgh had a choice in this matter. Remember, it's the private schools who chose to leave.

That would be ironic because they are the biggest losers with the new conference. I think the SUNYAC conference is going to improve from top to bottom because of all this. They have nice rinks, affordable schools, location to Canada and the bus trips are not overly bad. Who pushed for this? Private school women coaches?

Re: DIII game notes

Correlation between the women's recent lack of success, and the coaching change?? Coincidentally ... the men's defense is hugely improved as of late.

I would say that's an apt correlation but in a way unfair as it's not like Crowley asked for the job. He stepped in after Martalock couldn't last more than a few weeks after Jackson leaving. And "lack of success" is a pretty strong term considering they're still a top team by record with one of the best defenses and a goalie who is leading two of the major goaltending categories in DIII. He's not so inept that he's hindering the success of the very capable players he's inherited. I'm interested to see what he does if he keeps the job...

Probably Elmira because they haven't won the ECAC West title since 2011.
