Re: Diet and Exercise 2014: I Want It Now
I started Medifast back in mid-February because too many attempts to lose weight on my own have gone nowhere. I need the coaching, someone to hold my feet to the fire while going through the process. This coming Saturday I go in for my 8th weekly followup, and I expect to have dropped a little over 40lbs on that weigh-in. It's tough to know since my home scale isn't putting out the same readings as theirs. On the program, every four weeks they put you on an InBody machine which shoots an electric current through you to determine your body composition, it even segments it out between right arm, left arm, same for the legs, and the torso; it's not perfect as it says my legs were normal, but I know my touch that they're carrying excess weight. This is also the same machine used for the very first weigh-in so I trust it to be a more accurate statement of how much weight I've lost over the other scales in their office and at home.
As for exercise, I've been finally getting back into weight training. It's something I did a lot until September 2009 when I tore up the cartilage in my shoulder while playing hockey. Until I had surgery to repair it last spring I hadn't been able to do that, and February was the 9-month cutoff for such restrictions. Since then I've been slowly working my weights up to where I can be ...accepting of my new strength limitations.
As of my 4-week weigh in, my waist and chest were both down 1.5", neck down 1", upper arms down 1.25". I'm excited to see the new measurements come Saturday since I was once stretching my jeans at 48" and now it feels like the 46" I'm wearing now would slide down without my belt in place.
