Re: Diet and Exercise 2013: Ready to Suffer and Ready to Hope
Was wondering if y'all could share some opinions regarding what I've been doing with my workout as of late... Not sure how to progress...
Back in November, got back on the treadmill so I could get some cardio going before snowboarding this winter... Main goal was to get some running in so my legs wouldn't be as stressed/cramp up after just a few hours of snowboarding... Getting on the treadmill was a shock... I would struggle to do 45 minutes on there... I would jog 10 minutes followed by walking 5 minutes... Rinse and repeat 3 times... Was running at 5.0mph and walking at 3.5mph... After getting some base milage down, I tried to up the running segments to 6.0 mph one day and nearly killed myself, ha ha... Did find out that I could add another 15 minute segment to bring the total time up to an hour as things progressed however... So now I'm getting comfortable running on the treadmill for an hour...
I'm just curious how I want to progress from here... What is the best way to increase intensity? Should I increase the speed (5.5mph, 6.0 mph, 6.5mph)? I want to keep the total time around an hour, so don't want to add another 15 minute segment... What about increasing the run time while decreasing the walk time (11min/4min, 12min/3min)? What about incline on the treadmill?
Never did any kind of distance running, so really no idea how to progress with this...
