Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

This team is about as useless as Stevie Wonder's drivers license.

HICKS!!

1-0, top 4.

At least someone got the dick out of his hand and swung the bat. See how that works?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Weren't the Tigers predicted to flop this year? It looks like the Central is the Indians and everyone else.

They were supposed to finish 2nd. KC is going to sell, the White Sox have already sold and just aren't good, and the Twins supposedly didn't have the starting pitching. Instead, KC is still not good, the White Sox are still going to trade Frazier and Quintana at the deadline, but the Twins have surprisingly had their rotation hold up so far.

The Tigers are facing the same problem most contending teams have once they've passed their shelf life: when they go, it's not going to be gradual.

From what I'm reading, there's a very good chance that Tyler Collins is no longer a Tiger.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

He's out of options and he's in a 5-61 slump with 30 Ks. I think he's getting DFA'd.

And he has been.

Didn't he have a game to break his 0 for 20 where he went three for four? Take that out and it's 2-57.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Romine reaches base on an error to break up the perfecto in the 7th.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

And Avila breaks up the no-no on the very next pitch.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Now Miggy ends the shutout. We're still getting caved in 7-1.

There isn't enough mustard for Iggy's hot dog. There's three shortstops in the American League better than him (Lindor, Correa and Bogaerts), and when Gleybar Torres arrives in New York, he'll be the 4th. This kid is a legend in his own mind.

10-7 final.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

I'm guessing career-ending injury,

Two run bomb. In other news, water is still wet and the sun is still hot.

6 HRs allowed in 17.1 innings. 22 hits, 9 doubles, 6 bombs in 74 at bats.

A rough cut puts him at a .297 average and a .662 slugging. An OBP of .366, for an OPS of 1.028 against him this year. That's squarely between the career averages of Hank Greenberg and Jimmy Foxx.

That's....atrocious. He shouldn't be here anymore.
