Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Maybin probably should have been tossed for throwing his bat right there. That was brewing for 3 pitches there.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Zimmerman leaves the game with a groin strain and Miggy took a pitch on the knee. Whee.

Hot shot/strange bounce off the 3rd baseman's glove, fielded in foul territory. Scorer awards a double to J.D..

Double, my foot.

Verlander gonna Verlander. 8 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 10 K's.

Now let's make sure the pen doesn't make a mess.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

No Ausmus the next few days, due to the death of his mother.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

A 5-run 6th inning from the A's has all but settled this one. Boyd did okay, going 5 and giving up 3. But then Saupold came in and got shelled.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

I think Maybin just went off limping after that play at 1st. Uh-oh...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

I went down to see the mud hens last night. quite a few Tigers on the roster as you might expect. The outfield was Gose, Collins, and Moya. I thought Moya was terrible most of the game. he muffed the only ball that came to him, and looked bad in three of his 4 at bats. real bad. on the 4th he hit it just far enough to go out for a walk off win.
Gose got two hits but is hitting about 220 and Collins hitting about 200. several of the other minor league players looked better. the pitching was pretty good. Rondon did fairly well in his one inning, but walked one guy, the last guy in the order, on 4 pitches.
otherwise seemed ok.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

I want to add, the Bisons had this guy who was ambidextrous. he was a side arm pitcher who pitched left handed to lefty's and right handed to righties. got everyone out and pitched at about 75 mph.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

So Verlander tries to sneak a third strike by pennington and he hits it to left for a single and we are down. Why is he throwing a stirike 0-2.?
