Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Joey Bats drives in the game-winner in the 19th. I can accept that. At least it wasn't their version of Andrew Romine that killed us.

1 for 8 was he? Timing is everything!

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Going to be rain in forecast the entire two days of the DET/PIT series. Tuesday worse than today apparently.

I'd say its equal chance of two rain outs as two games played.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out seeing as how they have no common off days left. Plus with it being interleague that throws another wrench into the mix. I'd say try for back-to-back doubleheaders in Detroit since it's a home and home series, but that would be suicide for the bullpens and is probably against the CBA. I don't know what else could be done besides trying to squeeze in five innings or doing a 1am first pitch like we did with the Yankees a few years ago.

Tomorrow looks like a better chance at night, but it's supposed to rain during the day, so there goes the chance for a DH then.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Well, we already tried to play until 4 AM yesterday, so why not.

McCoy and Hardy to Toledo. Justin Miller, Keven Whelan and Ian Kril recalled. Casey Crosby outright released.

Isn't that everyday for this pen?
(The entire bullpen is my Tiger. ;))

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

And now JV is getting bombed in the 1st inning. And getting absolutely NO help from our chicken**** defense.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Either way, it's a coin flip chance that Verlander makes it out of the 1st. 5-1 in the bottom of the 1st. Still 1 out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Now Verlander is in the on-deck circle, and Scherzer and Porcello both have helmets and bats ready in the dugout.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Verlander sacrifices the runners to 2nd and 3rd, and then goes down the tunnel. I think he's done.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Best way to maintain a lead is to walk a few people right away.

Eta. Never mind

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

You know what, I'm not mad at Avila there, nor am I mad at the 3rd base coach. The Pirates just made a play there.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

If Justin Miller can get us to the 5th inning, I'd be thrilled.
