Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Probably when Miggy went Miggy, too. A Latino did something well. Gotta point out that it's Latino Night at the park. Oh, and did you know that Moody Blues is coming to town, and that the weird-looking Bernstein family has a law firm, or that Little Caesars makes stupid commercials to get us to buy $5 pizzas? That's about all that they can stand to stuff down our throats on any given night.

This McCoy kid needs to be back in Toledo. He's not ready, off the DL or otherwise.

You are in true mid season form, my friend. The only thing missing is, "nice area".

Anibal with a 2.73 ERA through six innings. In the 7th inning he has a 14 ERA. That's incredible.

V-MART!!

4-0, bottom 3.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

This is a bunch of starters trying to prove that they shouldn't have to be in the bullpen come playoff time.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Good.

Sanchez got through 6 unscathed, and with a 4-run lead. Now, then, how big of a leash do you give him in the 7th?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Jim Price on the Bos- NYY Sunday Night game- "You would think that they would want to have good teams."

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

You know, ever since they made him stop doing play-by-play and confined him to color commentary, he's gotten much, much better.

A little friendly competition never hurt anybody. :D

Give it another 2 weeks, and they're going to have nutjobs calling into 97.1 and suggesting that the Tigers roll with 5 starters in the playoffs.

Another message board I frequent had someone do that just yesterday...

It makes no sense why a team would want to do that. If you have a rotation strong enough to go 5 in the playoffs, then you can also improve your bullpen without taking much away from the starters.

Right now I would go:
Scherzer, Price, Verlander, Porcello. If it wasn't for Verlander's playoff track record I would put Porcello in front of him. Sanchez goes to the pen because of his K ability. I've seen others say Porcello to the pen, but I would rather have a strike out king instead of a contact pitcher heading out to the mound in relief.

Not the first time this idea has been floated. If Verlander keeps treading water the rest of the way, while hitting the wall the 3rd time through a lineup, he's a great candidate for the bullpen come playoff time. How could it be worse? If it goes well, could this be Smoltz II?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Bases loaded, 1 out, we make McCarthy throw 34 pitches.....and come away empty-handed.

This has 2-1 loss written all over it. One of those where we either get 5 hits on the night, or leave about 20 on base.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Hey. Hunter. Maybe if you run through the bag, you're actually safe. Interesting concept, I know.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I don't understand MLB blackout rules. I've been able to watch the Tigers on both ESPN and FSD in the past on Wednesday Night Baseball, but Monday Bight baseball has a blackout.

And yes, Hunter is starting to have more jog it out grounders, which I believe has cost him two or three times the past couple weeks.
