Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Turns out that it was nothing.

Bases loaded, 1 out in the 7th and we come away empty. We don't deserve to win this thing.

4-3 final.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

The Sanford and Son theme song when Jeff Jones goes to the mound. Nice touch.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Jesus. We're not even paying attention to baserunners. 3 stolen bases in the 1st inning alone.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Smyly getting pelted. By singles. Astros are finding every hole and the defense isn't helping with a dropped pick off and Avila losing the ball.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

This pitcher needs to mix in some Just For Men.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

A 6-2-5 double play to get us out of the 3rd. Interesting.

Smyly didn't make it out of the 3rd.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I'm convinced that Fanatic U aims their commercials squarely at the downriver white-trash demographic.

AVILA!

4-2 'Stros, Top 5

It's about time, Alex.

The mister wanted to know why he couldn't have done that with runners on the bases. I told him he needed to lower his expectations.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Half the time I'm not sure why Avila carries a piece of wood to the plate in the first place.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I don't think Miggy's quite 100% from his surgery this offseason. If he was, that ball goes about 480 feet.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

The Tigers had their 30-year honoring of the 1984 champs.

I hope this isn't true

If so, this is ****-poor treatment of Mr. Wilcox. No two ways around it. Just like they **** all over Sparky because he wouldn't manage the scabs in 1995.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

They have absolutely no idea that Petry can't be heard on-air.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Now the sound is coming out of a coffee can, and it's ahead of the video. Lovely.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Well now Mickey York is doing it from the studio. Like the early days of BTN when they broadcasted hockey from Chicago.

And yet it's still not as awkward as when Thompson and Monroe joined Rod in the booth last week.

Well, now Craig has joined in. You could literally hear the door open in the studio and follow his foot steps.

I'll give them a pass in both instances. It's better than watching Rod Allen attempt to speak English.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Reading this commentary about how the Tigers' hitting stinks is fascinating- I'm a White Sox fan and I'm terrified of every Tiger who's not in the bullpen.

I don't think Miggy's quite 100% from his surgery this offseason.

If you don't want him, we'll take him :D
