Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I have read that Miggy can't do any more damage by playing, and that he'll heal on his own. Besides, 5 bombs in 6 games to get to 38 now.

I'll take my chances with a late lead with Rondon-Smyly-Veras-Benoit. Benoit has a 0.52 ERA since stepping into the closer role. Coke and Al-Al are a different matter entirely.

Avila must get healthy. Pena looks like a poor defensive catcher, and there is a stark contrast between the winning percentages when Avila and Pena are behind the plate.

LF is quickly becoming a problem as well. Tuiasosopo has really cooled off and Dirks looks completely lost. Nick Castellanos may only be a few days away, although he's only hitting about .270 in Toledo.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Are we bringing anyone up for the doubleheader? Or using Smyly as a spot-starter? Or are we just going to have a couple guys go on four days rest?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I think you're allowed to bring up a pitcher in a case like this. I'd put my money on Jose Alvarez.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

After 30 pitches, Sanchez is finally out of the 1st inning.

Royals 1 : 0 Tigers

PRINCE ! ! !

Royals 1 : 2 Tigers

End of the 1st.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Somehow the board ate that post, but yeah, that's what I was going with. I personally don't care to comment further on that matter.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

It's about time, Mr. Dirks. You're well overdue.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

JFC. This last week has been some of the worst displays of baserunning I've seen in a while. And Miggy hasn't been involved in any of it.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Three outs made ****ing around on the basepaths. :shakes head:

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

All right boys. This is getting a bit ridiculous...

The Yakety Sax fires up again in the 7th. First Miggy lets a foul ball bounce off his mitt. Naturally, the batter singles on the next pitch. Bonderman then misses 1st base with the pickoff throw by about 4 feet, and the runner advances to 3rd. Then some drunk asshat in the seats tries to pick up the ball, then gives Hunter a look like he didn't know the ball was live. Yeah, ****nuts, Bonderman always throws balls halfway down the 1st base line to get them out of play.

3-0 Royals now. If this is all the better we're going to hit, we're already done.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

A chinese fire drill on the basepaths. That's a fitting way to end this game.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Nice job Prince! Doubles in Kelly from 2nd.

Royals 0 : 1 Tigers

2 outs in the bottom of the 1st.

Now VMart singles in the Prince.

Royals 0 : 2 Tigers

End of the 1st

Too bad Miggy couldn't make it down to first earlier on what would have been an error by the third baseman--his running really concerns me.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Nice squeeze bunt by Iglesias to score Infante from third. Perfectly timed and Iggy was safe at 1st as well.

Royals 0 : 3 Tigers

1 out in the bottom of the 2nd.
