Would really be a hoot if theyend up facing the Cardinals and we have the 2 teams with the worst records in the regular season in the Series.(10 teams had better records than either of them)

Great game. Tigers got Cc to throw it over the plate, and then hit it. About time the offense showed up. The at bat by Infante in the 4th was key, and Scherzer was very solid, though the yanks did a good job of forcing up his pitch count.
I hope Valverde gets back in, imho it's confidence in his splitter that's the problem. Without throwing it, he becomes too predictable. Also both the hr's in NYC, would not be in Detroit. I'm wondering if Porcello will get used.Coke has been real solid but I don't expect him to be used near as much next series as the number of lefthanders is a lot less.

Tremendous series against the Yankees. Tigers have now won 9 out of the past 12 games (including the last series in KC) and the starting ERA is like 0.66 in the playoffs.
I hope that they can adjust to the NL style of baseball without the DH and the lineup jockeying. That extra bat sure comes in handy (especially if it is Delmon Young against the Yanks.)

With the Cardinals now up 31- it sure does look that way (probably 85% chance) but in the 14 cases of an NL team leading in the NLCS, twice a team has come back from 3-1 deficitis. SF is not dead but they are on the critical list. If STL is healthy-which they weren't for most of the year-they can hurt you in a lot of different ways. Thay have very decent starting pitching and a deep hitting lineup. Bullpen is a weakness for sure and their defense can leave a lot to be desired. If it does get to be Detorit/STL it could be a really competitive series of 2 very deserving teams. If it is a close series, the DH rule may be a very important factor as you mention. I have no way of knowing but I would think the odds makers would have that series as very close to 50/50.

But I am just going by my memory so this could be all wrong.
As a kid growing up in NYC I remember tons of Yankee/Dodger series both in Brooklyn and then LA. I would think that is the most. My dad used to tell me about all the Yankee/Giant series in his youth in NYC so I would guess that as second. But with STL and the Yankees both being involved so often-i would have to include that as third.
But I am just going by my memory so this could be all wrong.

Quick math: Yankees have the most appearances (40) and have played the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers the most in the WS: 11 times. The NY/SF Giants were next with 7 match-ups.
Both of those teams have the next most appearances with 18 each, and St.Louis Cards also have 18 appearances pending the outcome of their series with the SF Giants.
I'll post a comprehensive view of all the WS teams, appearances and records soon.

Thanks Streaker-nice little summary. It does seem like it is a bit of a top heavy list. Not just in appearances, but who seems to do well once they get to the series. Yankees, Cardinals, Phils-seem to take good advantage of their opportunites. Probably means next to nothing-but fascinating none the less.

Well, keep in mind for the majority of Yogi's career (1947-1964), the Yankees went to 15 Series in those 18 years. The only years they missed in that span were '48, '54, and '59. There's a lot of ground right there. And much more often than not, the Dodgers and Giants were on the other side of the equation. The Dodgers didn't win their first title until 1955, and two years later played their last season in Brooklyn.

You left off the Expos/Nationals.
Also, I think when Senators I left for Minnesota and Senators 2 came in as an expansion team, the records stayed in DC. Those records went to Texas when they left town after 1972.
