Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

You watch. Bruce Chen looks like Warren Spahn against us. He won't get out of the 4th inning against Harrelson's Heroes tonight.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Right now with the game so close, it's tough for him because he has to be extra careful. If we could score some runs,( now there's a novel idea) maybe he can last for a bit.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Verlander at 66 pitches through 3, per MLB.com. Anderson at 26 through 2 for Oakland.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

That pitcher's not right. If they don't go to the pen, we're going to bomb him.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Two plate appearances and Cabrera hasn't seen a pitch in Wayne County. It's really kind of amazing how little play him making a run at the Triple Crown has gotten. He's leading the BA and RBI race, and second in home runs, but probably won't even get the MVP because he's still behind Mike Trout in the race that matters more to voters.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Out he comes. You could tell by both the replay, and the way he was standing on the mound that something was amiss. He didn't slip, he just fell, and he just stood there with a strange look on his face afterwards, without going on the mound.

looks like he twisted his ankle and someone is coming in to a tough situation.I predict a curve ball or slider off the plate away.

I wouldn't give Cabrera anything that resembles a strike, either.

And Delmon will swing at the first thing he sees, even if it's closer to the dugout than the strike zone.

And he gets to face Neshek and his delivery.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Well, that ended better than I thought it was going to. I'll take a sac fly there.

CABRERA!!!

5-0, bottom 7.

#41 for Miggy.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Shhh...don't look now, but he's leading the AL in BA and RBI and is now only one homer behind Josh Hamilton...

And all four ESPN guys there say Trout would get their MVP vote. Toss-up for stupidest reason is between Kurkjian for mentioning a couple guys in the '30s that won the TC, but not MVP, and Sutcliffe for suggesting Mike Trout was responsible for Albert Pujols starting to hit the ball.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

If there's a Triple Crown winner that is not named the MVP, the only viable reason could be a 30-game winner.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

People should not be booing in a 6-2 game in the 9th. Not yet...

6-2 final.

3-0 Royals in the 7th. Let's see how they give this one away...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Well, until now it's been nice to see Bruce Chen go Cy on someone else with his junk.

Followed by the ChiSox failing to drive a runner in from 3rd and throwing away a double play ball.

Our bench must have snuck over there and taken over.
