Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

If Peralta could throw the goddammed ball to first base instead of everywhere but, he'd be a decent SS.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

JV's gotta go to 99 in the 4th inning. This is not a good sign.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

And he might not get through the 6th. He's got some kind of streak going on that.

Glad I'm watching Deadliest Catch right now.

Prince solo HR. Is that all we can do, hit home runs?

I suspect the book's out on the Tigers when JV's pitching. Wait him out, foul off a lot of balls, don't worry about scoring too much, and you'll get your chances in the late innings when the bullpen rollercoaster gets activated.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

That's fine until July or so, when it gets above 85 and Verlander starts throwing 125 pitches and blows that theory to kingdom come.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

They're talking about who's going to lead off the 9th? We're not going to get that far tonight.

EDIT: There's the tarp. If the forecast holds, this is the end of the game.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

Game to resume about nowish.

Edit: Well, I've got good news and bad news.

First the bad news: Rain delay didn't matter, we lost anyway.

Now the good news: Raburn has been optioned to Toledo!!!

I like Berry, I hope he does well. I hope he can be a real leadoff hitter and we can move jackson to second. I wouldn't blame jhonny totally for that DP, the throw from santiago was high, and if verlander had not allowed a grade D hitter to double with the bases loaded, or had pitched from the stretch maybe we would have been in the game.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

Omir Santos is coming north as the other half of the Raburn transaction. Three catchers in Detroit now.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

I'm not really understanding this move. Laird can still start on a regular basis if he has to, it's only been a year since he was platooning with Avila. And if I remember correctly Santos didn't do too hot when he got brought up last year.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 3 - The Alan Trammell version

Raburn hasn't been doing too hot, either.

Don Kelly was our 3rd catcher. Maybe he's not long for this roster, either.

I want to find out about whether Danny Worth can play 2B. I don't if he can and still hit his weight. We know Santiago is only good for about 200-250 AB, so we're going to need another alternative.

Rod Allen reporting that we shouldn't be surprised to see Laird and Santos in the lineup tonight, Laird at DH.

Laird at DH, Avila catching, Worth starting at 2B and batting second.

Say what you will, but Laird is hitting over .300 so far this year. Is there anybody else on the bench that is even hitting .200?

EDIT: And Fister is going back on the DL again.
