Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Tomorrow is game #100. This team has exactly 30 wins. At this point I would not completely rule out a 45 win season. Right now we're on pace to win 49.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

68-94, good for last place, but we're probably less than 20 games out by the time it's all said and done.

What the hell was I thinking???

I don't feel bad for the the players on the field. I feel bad for the Tigers' social media intern; after last night, all they could muster was "that's all from the Motor City" or something.

Didn't you guys do this before and then immediately get Verlander, Scherzer, and Porcello?

We ****ed around for the better part of a decade before we came across Verlander. This team lost 109 in 1996. We lost 106 in 2002 and 119 in 2003. In 2002 we fired Phil Garner, brought in Luis Pujols, and we managed to lose 100 for Pujols. We had 10 straight sub-.500 seasons between 1994-2003 (and then two more in 2004 and 2005). THEN Verlander was drafted in 2004. Ricky Brokedick came a couple years later, and Scherzer was a trade.

Norris runs out of gas in the 7th. 2-2 now.

Probably bring in Buck Futter pretty soon to blow it.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Holy pants. That was a hell of a play by the Seattle SS.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

An 8-1 dick kicking by the Mariners.

If we play .500 the rest of the way, 1) we'd still lose 101 games, and 2) that would require more wins over the last two months of the season than we've had in the first four.

The more I look at things, this could very easily be a 45 win team.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Currently at -212 run differential. The modern record is -343 by the Philadelphia A's in 1915, closely followed by the 2003 Tigers at -337. With the way this team gets blown out, I think that record is easily in contention.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Miggy doubles in the 6th. We strand him.

Stewart doubles to lead off the 7th. We strand him.

If we lose this game, this right here is why.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Boyd leaves with a 2-1 lead, runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Buck Futter enters.

Let's see how big of a mess we make with this.

JHTFC, Jiminez. A cookie right over the heart of the plate and we're tied at 2.

Send his fat *** back to Toledo. Bring me another smurf.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Jake Rogers will arrive in Anaheim tomorrow. Bobby Wilson was waived.

Bobby Wilson is in the lineup tonight. That's right, they waived him on Saturday, but he's playing tonight.

MIGGY!!

1-0, 3 batters in.

About **** time.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

I'm going to bed, because I have a headache, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is the only run we score tonight.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

As long as Avila doesn’t ask for the moon, I don’t expect Greene or Castellanos to be around at 4:01 tomorrow.
