Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Tonight's bullpen consists of Stumpf-Alcantara-Cisnero...and now Rosenthal. If this doesn't end up at least 12-5 I'll be amazed.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

That pitch almost hit someone in the on deck circle.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Rosenthal gets out of the inning clean. I'm mildly impressed.

MERCER - 2 ?!?!?

8-6 Tribe, top 9

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

6 outs recorded. 7 runs in so far.

Ryan Carpenter, everybody!!

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Lost somewhere in Carpenter’s usual bed****ting tonight was the fact that we only got one hit.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Vlad Jr looked like his dad in his first AB in Comerica Park, reaching out and poking a single over the shortstop's head.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

I honestly don't think Jordan Zimmerman will win more than 5 more games in a Tiger uniform. I'd bet the under on that all day long.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

7-31 since June began. That's nearly a quarter of the season at a .184 clip.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Yup.

And as bad as the Orioles are (and they are hideous), we're only 1/2 game ahead of the O's.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

120 might be a stretch, but 110-115 is certainly in play.

Here's the scary part: the kids aren't really hitting in the minors. Sure, there's loads of pitching, mostly in AA, but the bats aren't heating up in the minors, either. There's only two players having promising seasons at the plate: Dawel Lugo and Willi Castro. Jake Rogers has an OPS of about .720, and Daz Cameron is under .700. The MLB average this season is somewhere in the neighborhood of .740-.750 or so. There's not much hitting in AA to write about, either.

I'm starting to wonder if this is going to work. We need bats, like, yesterday.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

So...the Tigers signed Edwin Jackson today. Frankly, at this stage of his career, I'm not so sure that he's going to help any.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

I swear. This ****ing team could burn jello.

Goodrum boots an inning-ending DP that would have kept it 1-0 Tigers. Three pitches later, VerHagen serves up an 0-2 grand slam. 5-1 Seattle.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

God****, Drew, did you really have to earhole the kid, in his major league debut?!?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Scary part is, that might have been the highlight of Drew's inning.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

If it wasn't already 10-2 this might be compelling.
