Should we be dusting off our Todd Jones Save Manuals here???Valverde coming in with 2 outs in the 9th.
We're playing with fire here, folks.
All the radio guys keep doing is bringing up some abdominal strain Valverde has, and wonder if it acts up more if they make him sit in the middle of a save.
Seems logical, but I'm not an 80 year old watching my team choke away an August like I choke down Marlboro's, so my logic probably doesn't matter.
He better go 9. Valverde is done for a day or two, and Coke and Perry are just about used up for a couple days as well. And God help us if Verlander gets shelled, because we've got Bonderman and Porcello going the next two days.
I've got this crazy formula, but I'm not sure if it will work.
1. Put Valverde in for only the ninth like it was back when he was shutdown and it didn't take him 30 extra pitches to get one more out.
Yes, this formula only has one step, but while Todd Jones was the master of creating situations and getting out of them, Valverde is not.
