Denver @ RPI (12/13 & 12/14): The Battle of the Former Asst. Coaches

Re: Denver @ RPI (12/13 & 12/14): The Battle of the Former Asst. Coaches

Has it been confirmed that due to finals RPI-TV will have a limited presence, that is not the usual number of cameras?

I doubt it will be completely confirmed until the kids show up, but it is what RHamilton mentioned last week on the RPITV chat.

RPI fans, how does the video feed look when you run it from a computer to a big screen HD TV via an HDMI cable? DU's Pio Vision feed is very good when viewed this way due to their new HD equipment.

Usually, it looks great on the larger screen monitors. Just make sure you have a halfway decent bandwidth allowance; TW sucks so much I can't even view 360p.

I have Verizon FIOS which is 100 times better than any cable service (Cablevision) which I had a few years ago. I hear nothing good about TW from the people I work with who have it and can't get FIOS. Cablevision has been begging ex customers to come back and have gone so far as to send people to ring my doorbell 3 times in the last 24 months. I will never go back to cable.

Why doesn't Verizon install FIOS where I live?

You can test by watching part of one of the archived games at the RPITV website, not that you can do much about it at this point if it isn't ****in awesome. ;)

Seriously, RPITV does a really great job. The only caveat is that apparently they won't be using the full set of cameras this weekend.

I've been wanting it in Pittsfield so bad; apparently they don't "have the money" to continue rolling out expensive fiber infrastructure. I think that's a bunch of horse manure and they just want to pocket the cash. That being said, I have TW here in Pitts and it's actually completely fine, given that my two housemates aren't also doing some heavy Interwebbing while I'm streaming whatever.

And yes, RPI TV looks great on a flat screen blown-up.

From what I understand is that they stopped "expanding" their markets in 2010 and have been concentrating on rolling out newer and better services to their existing customers. I also understand that when they were expanding, they ran into problems in going into incorporated villages and cities due to "franchise" agreements the incorporated areas had with the cable companies. I live in an unincorporated area so there was never really an issue for them coming into my area and competing with Cablevision. Satellite services such as DirectTV are not very prevalent where I live, people either have Cablevision or FIOS. I am off to the company Christmas party and I'll catch up with all of you during the game.

As an investor, I am very happy with their currently over 4% yield. ;)

RC-That almost does not do it justice. It is even more spectacular than I ever conceived it could be. I often(when Jen allows:)) play it thorugh a Samsung Blu Ray player to our Samsung 65" HDTV. Incredibly clear and the angles from the cameras are just insanely good. My only problem is that the darn BluRay player puts up a screensaver automatically every 10 minutes or so when the browser is inactive. I have to sit with the remote and just click any button and it is back on.

Can't you disable that in the settings?

Nope-called Samsung-which is quite a task in itself to get to actually speak to someone. As i understand it-there is no way to disable it that they are aware of. In fact-and I am repeating this exactly as I was told-"We don't really see that as any sort of a problem".

You need to get the latest firmware for your device.

Re: Denver @ RPI (12/13 & 12/14): The Battle of the Former Asst. Coaches

Burgie-thanks-but been there and done that. When i first saw the problem I downloaded the newest firmware. It made no difference. I wish you could have listened in on my call to their customer support. Aside from the very poor english spoken-when I was told that the screensaver popping on was not that big of a problem, I knew I was getting nowhere. Not a big deal-love the machine and watching RPI hockey from RPITV thrown up on the big screen is just fabulous. Having to press a button every so often is no big deal-losing in OT is a bigger deal for me.
