Denver hosts Bemidji State, Nov. 19th & 20th

Re: Denver hosts Bemidji State, Nov. 19th & 20th

Yeah, not a lot of talk on this series. Not sure what that means, but then again, I guess the BSU and UAA thread from last week turned into a Michelle Bachmann vs. Sarah Palin, who is worse, thread. I think the concensus was that both of the Teabaggers need to disappear....

I think a lot of Denver fans have not really been as engaged with much pure hockey talk since Jesse Martin was hurt three weeks ago. Having this conusming story dominate here for the last three weeks has taken a lot of the wind out of our normal hockey enthusiasm. I think BSU is also an opponent with little serious history with Denver outside of the 2005 NCAAs, so you don't see much fan chatter.

I look at this series as a possible trap weekend for the Pioneers, who are distracted with final exams this week. This is going to mean a reduced fan turnout and a quiet arena. Given that DU played about 4 good periods last weekend vs MSUM, I am hoping that the Pioneers can begin to play with more sustained intensity this weekend. These are very important league points on the line.

And BSU fans are bandwagon jumpers because we don't want to see UAA play...

Think you'll enjoy watching DU play.

The Jason Zucker(fr)-Drew Shore(soph)-Luke "the Goal Czar" Salazar(jr) Line is the top scoring combo.
On Defense, Sophomore Matt Donovan and Freshman David Makowski are the most offensive minded.

This I concur with....and all Teabaggin' (except in my private bedroom, with a hottie of the female persuasion) should disappear, just for the sake of an appearance of a slight bit of unity in our country.

So, anyhow, what should we expect out of the Beavers? Most DU fans, myself included, don't know much except we got a scare in '05, your coach is our former coach's brother and our former player Anders Bjork had a brother who showed up there for a year as an aberration of a 23 year old freshman with like 1 year of eligibility.

Noticed that DU had basketball at home last night at Magness. Where is their practice rink for when bball takes over the place?

LOL!!! Like your Teabaggers situation!!!! But yes, they are becoming a very polarizing voice in politics with no vision of compromise. And the Lemmings that are buying into it, yikes......

For the Beavers, our first line of Read, George and Lowe have been carrying the team. All of them are averaging one or more points a game on the season, along with D-man Brad Hunt. Up until last weekend against UAA, there were very few Beavers that had stepped into the scoring column. That changed a little bit against the Seawolves and hopefully they can continue.

Goaltending right now is on a rotation basis. Junior Dan Bakala lost 5-4 to UAA, while Mathieu Dugas pitched a 4-0 shutout win. Bakala has a win against SCSU (3-2 OT) and Dugas has a win (UAA) and a tie (UMD 1-1) on their records. Dugas is to get the start tonight.

BSU needs to stay out of the penalty box. 12 of the 25 goals given up have been power play goals. On the flip side, BSU lost their top penalty killers to graduation or injury (in Ben Kinne's case), so they are still gelling as a unit. They are getting better, killing off 8 PP in their 3-2 OT win at SCSU and 5 PP chances in their shutout of UAA.

BSU has not really changed their style of play since the '05 game. They have been able to open it up more as the talent level increased, but they will forecheck hard and be in your face and try to outwork you along the walls and in the corners. You could see UAA get frustrated on Saturday night,

Looking forward to the games this weekend, hopefully I can get a chance to listen to them. With an 8:30 start time tonight and the kids being up at 4:00 this morning, it already feels like a long day.

Re: Denver hosts Bemidji State, Nov. 19th & 20th

I have a coworker here in Scammon Bay who is a Bemidji State alumna. It's too bad we don't have a great way to watch the games. It would be fun to watch with her.

Re: Denver hosts Bemidji State, Nov. 19th & 20th

Saturday night's game is scheduled on Pioneer Vision, denverpioneers.com, for $9.95. Friday night is audio only for the same price.

Tuesday: 11:45 am MT Gwozdecky Press Conference and 6:15 pm MT Gwozdecky Radio show. Both are free--denverpioneers.com

How do you purchase a single game for the $9.95? I have only seen where you sign up for a membership...

Re: Denver hosts Bemidji State, Nov. 19th & 20th

The $9.95 is a monthly membership. There is no per game pricing. For the $9.95 you will get every premium event DU offers for the next month including tonight's audiocast and tomorrow's webcast and audiocast.

TV tonight is FSN Rocky Mountain and FCS Atlantic.

This series will be an interesting test for BSU. BSU is beginnig to figure out what it takes to play in this league and from my vantage point the coaching staff and the team has done a really good job in making adjustments from one game to the next during a series. As previously mentioned, BSU needs to generate some points from the second third and fourth lines. Also, the big ice has always been an issue for BSU. I expect a dog fight this weekend and I am hoping BSU leaves Denver with a couple points. Good luck to both teams this weekend.

DU has an NHL sized rink. No big ice. Look for John Ryder and Dusty Jackson to be laying some big hits on the BSU players for DU. Not only is freshman forward Jason Zucker a dynamic offensive player but he also plays with an edge for a small player. Drew Shore is really coming into his own and right now the Zucker-D. Shore-Salazar line is DU's best. If Jesse Martin is able to make an appearance at Magness this weekend, look for the DU crowd and team to get really energized. Haven't heard if he will be there or not but the plan as of earlier this week was for him to be able to return to his apartment this weekend and do therapy as an outpatient at Craig or at DU.

My bad. :o

Also, great news about Jesse Martin the last week or so but (no offense) hopefully he does not show up this weekend to give his boys a boost. ;)

Hey, I wonder if we're related? :)
