Re: Denver at UNO - Friday 2/14/14 - Happy Valentine's Day!

It's time for weekend number two in Denver's Road Warriors or Roadkill Tour. Nebraska swept Denver in a pair of overtime games early in the season. Denver went 0-1-1 last weekend in Saint Cloud. My own thought is that another 0-1-1 this weekend would put the Pioneers perilously close to being unable to earn home ice for the first round of the NCHC tournament. Further, I think a minimum of three points is necessary if the Pioneers want to stay within striking distance of Western and NoDak--both of which have "seemingly" easy series this weekend. Good luck to the Pioneers this weekend.

Just to be correct, the CenturyLink Center capacity for hockey is 17,100:

..............despite anything you had read elsewhere that says otherwise, including the school's own web site, if you can believe it.

Here is the explanation for why so many seeming "authorities" have this wrong:

If ol' Deano gets feisty on us, he could wind up watching this game from the locker room on closed circuit tv....

I read your incredible earlier post on the subject and had to retire to my bed with a case of the vapors.

For DU fans, that's my old friend and colleague Terry Leahy doing the color commentary on Piovision.

I think Hawkinson is going to be a rock star next fall. Local guy, sat out his first year... nobody knows what he's capable of.....the stage is set for Brad. Can't wait.

There are probably fewer than 3 on this thread that know who you are referencing :)

Every Black Hawk fan of a certain age knows who "Elbows" is. Played the father in Young Blood. The year that Frank Mahovlich came very close to breaking the 50 goal mark (he wound up with 47 IIRC) he only got about 5 of 'em against the Hawks (6 team league). "Elbows just made him disappear.
