Death of the Replica Jersey?

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Cornell sells them, though it appears that the online store has gone out of stock during the offseason. I'm sure they'll be back by October or November.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

OK, I'll do it, I'll put Patman out of his misery.

They, none of they, have stopped having replica jerseys.

If you want a Canisius circa 2001, then, yes, they've stopped making replca jerseys.

Thank you for your insight

The only comment I'm making is that they used to be widely and relatively easily available and it didn't seem that way anymore. So, I figured I'd get a heads up on what's going on.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

UMass has had home white jerseys in the Campus Center store in the past, that's where I got mine... I think they still have some left. There is also a way to get a game-worn one after the season, you'd have to contact the booster club (called Pond Club.)

The campus center book store has a very minimal jersey selection, if any at all. There is a section that is put aside for materials that are not in perfect condition and some of them are marked down, and you can usually find a few black former away jerseys. The Mullins Center sells replica jerseys on gamedays at the merchandise stand, but otherwise acquiring a solid UMass jersey requires online shopping.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

To Patman's original point, it does seem like it's harder to find real jerseys lately, if only online. A lot of the schools with fewer resources seem to be selling cheap, assembled-on-the-fly Koronis jerseys.

It's just a feeling I get.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Bring this thread back to life. How about a Yale jersey. Has anyone seen a place that might have some?

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Air Force's gift shop at the rink finally got their replica jerseys in, but the quality is so poor I'm sticking with my old one. They're made by a no-name manufacturer, cost way too much, and the craftwork is terrible. What is supposed to be a five-pointed star on the shoulder looks like a kindergardener drew it. Really disappointing.

I'd like to see pictures of this. So how would it look if the Air Force's apparel wasn't made in America?

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

At UMD in 2007 they had lots of authentic and replicas. The next year they switched from Reebok to Nike and price went up from 150 to 200. Since then they have stopped ordering new jerseys. It seems the only place to get a Bulldog jersey.

As for replicas. I am glad they are "dying", I dislike them greatly. Authentic just feels better.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

bu fans wear jersies?

They body paint a jersey onto themselves. It works out well since it matches the facepaint!

(except that 30 year old chode we met in DC who had Jack Parker sign his jersey. HAHAHAHA. Cue the overzealous fanboy typing,... "lolz, zomg, BC fans dress up as empty seats.... hulhulhulhul... and the ones that don't only wear tshirt... and the ones that don't wear J Crew... hulhulhulhul").

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Since Miami went to Nike a few years ago, they stopped selling authentics at the rink shop and have been selling Nike replicas that obviously aren't nearly as nice. However, the athletic department dropped Nike for adidas before the start of this school year, so I'm hopeful there will be authentics for sale again in a year or so. If I'm correct, Miami's hockey program has a separate deal with Nike (now Bauer again) and they are wearing "Bauer's" for this year and maybe next.

My understanding is the deal with adidas is much more attractive in terms of fan gear, though I found the availability of new adidas football jerseys lacking a bit in the fall. It was probably a matter of getting old inventory sold and new inventory in. Hopefully next year will be better for all.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Some of these may have already been said, this year I've encountered the following situations:

BC: Replica Jerseys in the Bookstore next to Conte

BU: Replica Jerseys on sale at game and in the BU Bookstore

Northeastern: Didn't see any at the Bookstore a few weeks ago. (Nor pucks for that matter.)

Harvard: Had some in the Harvard Co-Op though I don't believe they're that close to the current designs.

UMass-Lowell: None at the Rink on gameday.

UNH: Didn't make it to their on campus bookstore but I believe the two stores right next door in downtown Durham had them. I know at least one did.

Quinnipiac: Does sell them at the game. (Bought one. I plan to collect jerseys from as many schools as possible over time.)

Yale: I didn't see any in the bookstore or in the campus customs shop next door.

UConn: UConn doesn't even sell hockey pucks. BUT, there are some jerseys being sold out of the Husky Wear shop in Buckland Hills mall, only these are not even close to the designs being used by either team.

When I was at Brown's bookstore last year I don't believe they had them, but they were in the midst of renovations so I could be wrong.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Vermont sells replicas at the rink store, and raffle off the game used jerseys.
Luckily I got mine before they made the schools strip the names off the back.
