Death of the Replica Jersey?

Patman

Rodent of Unusual Size
Something I've been noticing over the last few years, whenever I've felt the urge, is that there seems to be fewer and fewer schools offering their jerseys for sale and if they do its harder to find them. As it is, all of the "league shops" and the USCHO shop who seem to be run by the same group all seem to be trying to clearance all their stock.

I was wondering if there were any insights on this and I was wondering if your school has stopped selling them?

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

I know for a fact that BU still sells them in the bookstore and in Agganis.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Notre Dame generally has a selection of homes and aways available. They usually offer a handful of different numbers each season.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

I know Northeastern sells many at the games but only a handful at the campus bookstore because Barnes and Noble operates the bookstore therefore taking the cut but when they sell them at the games they make the full profit line...might have something to do with availability of them

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

My thing to this is every once in awhile i get an itch to get a hockey jersey... the college pickings are really thin and there aren't a lot of jerseys I like anymore (PC Friar circa 2002, UAF jersey, RPI puckman, so on)... for that I blame the schools of course for allowing jerseys that suck... but you can't find many of them online period these days.

Of course I'll still agitate to get my hands on an AIC jersey. :p

Go to a AIC game and sneak into the locker room and swipe one. nobody would know you were there. ;)

What do you think about the change from 'Lowell' to 'UMass Lowell' on the front of your jerseys.

I though the ones that simply said Lowell were worlds better. They look too cluttered now and that font is pretty cartoonish as well. I would've actually considered buying one of the Lowell ones.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

You can get BC Hockey replicas thru the BC bookstore and at Conte Forum, no problem. ;)

Bentley, however, doesn't sell hockey jerseys, replica or otherwise. :(

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

Of the schools I know:

Quinnipiac sells their replica yellow jerseys at the school bookstore, online and at the rink in their little shop. Although, I went and got hte coaches vs cancer game jersey instead of the replica, not that much expensive and it went to a good cause.

I know Yale raffles off a jersey every home game but I'm not sure about whether or not you can buy them.

Sacred Heart also has jerseys in their bookstore.

trip to the bookstore to get your jersey is an essential part of orientation... they should probably just go ahead and put it on the official schedule

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

To quiddlet: When I went to Agganis for the first time (a Dartmouth win in January '08), I found it simply amazing how the entire BU student section was clad in red and white jerseys... Don't think I've seen the student section completely dressed in jerseys anywhere else (I've been to all Hockey East rinks except for UNH, and 5 ECAC rinks.) Very cool to see.

As for jerseys: it's difficult to find good Dartmouth jerseys. Dartmouth Co-op (NOT Dartmouth Bookstore) in Hanover generally sells them in the store and online during the season, but the ones they had last year weren't that great. You can also find a really poorly-made "practice" jersey in Traditionally Trendy in Hanover (no online presence).

UMass has had home white jerseys in the Campus Center store in the past, that's where I got mine... I think they still have some left. There is also a way to get a game-worn one after the season, you'd have to contact the booster club (called Pond Club.)

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

PC usually sells jerseys that are a year or two behind the annual change. I gave up sometime in 2001.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

You can get UAH jerseys either at the campus bookstore or at games. If you're looking for one, I have no doubt that one of the UAH posters (aside from myself, who is no longer local to Huntsville) would be more than happy to assist your acquisition.

ETA: You can also buy online. Toddler $34, Youth $84, Adult $90.

OK, I'll do it, I'll put Patman out of his misery.

They, none of they, have stopped having replica jerseys.

If you want a Canisius circa 2001, then, yes, they've stopped making replca jerseys.

Re: Death of the Replica Jersey?

I haven't been to the Bemidji State bookstore in a while (I should get over there soon - likely next week for the football home opener), so I don't know if they sell jerseys. They have in the past occasionally. They do, however, sell jerseys at games and on-line (but not through the bookstore site).
