You know...when mechanical stuff goes wrong on the Northwestern it just doesnt seem dramatic any more. I mean Edgar seems to be a heck of an engineer and has fixed like everything that has broken with ease. Have to wait and see I guess with todays episode.

I missed like all of after the catch while I was on the phone with my folks. But I caught a little bit of Mike talking with Jake Anderson and Sig and Edgar and the way Jake was trying to be humble about how much he has learned and Sig and Edgar were talking him up saying how great he was was striking. It really shows what can happen when you have someone who works as hard and is as dedicated as Jake is and when he has people like Sig and Edgar who push him and help him and make sure he is learning and growing so that he can be a good captain someday...even if they do give him some good natured ribbing every now and then. We have really seen Jake grow as a man since he first showed up a few seasons ago. He has really shown some amazing stuff with all the bad that has happened in his life too.

The contrast between the two Jakes is amazing. Somewhat similar circumstances, and yet, we all see how one has risen to the challenges life has thrown at him while the other has crumbled. And if anyone thinks that Jake Harris still isn't using is deluding themselves.

maybe we will finally get an answer in the final episode. My money is on him feeling ill due to withdrawal or worse...he isnt going through withdrawals because he is using while on the boat. Which Sig would probably murder him for doing.

yeah... I have never known anybody dealing with drugs... but I can't imagine his mid-ice behavior at home as caught on tv was that of somebody clean.

A friend of mine's son has been battling addiction for several years and based upon what I have seen of him, I would bet a ton of money that Jake is still using.
