Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

If I'm Derrick, the reply is simple:

"Okay. Fine. I'm out of the picture. Since you're the bosses, and you've got all the answers, you two shouldn't have any problem at all getting that boat running like a top in no time. I'd wish you luck, but apparently you don't need it."

Unless that boat had one helluva Opilio season, they're in more trouble than anyone's letting on. Freddie's comment when joining the Wizard about taking less money the last few years on the CM was quite telling.

Did Derrick make mistakes? You're darn right he did. As I said before, not canning that idiot engineer is at the top of the list. The more I think about it, the more I think he was a good part of the problem on the boat. And once he smelled weed on Jake, he should have taken Josh into the captain's bunk, away from cameras, and explained to him the situation, and the possible consequences for the boat. If Josh has an issue at that point, it's time for Derrick to walk away. The conversation between Jake, Josh, and Derrick about Phil doing the boys a major disservice, while true, also should have happened between closed doors, and with more tact.

Derrick is not very...couth ;)

BTW either they were playing it up for the cameras or the boys need to seek some therapy for their daddy issues. Someone saying that in his opinion their dad didnt prepare them for running the boat (and I love Phil but he didnt) is not ripping said person.

I also found it interesting when Derrick explained how Blue Crab was not his call and pretty much seemed to invalidate how the show portrayed how everything went down. Also, it was pretty obvious no one was on the side of the Harris boys, even the cameraman from the CM.

Oh and Edgar dropping the "I want to be captain for Opillio" was awesome. Sig froze for a second :D

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

I think someone needs to get the boys' attention and pop the titty out of their mouths. Do you remember Josh's comment about "giving up my party life to spend the summer on this boat"? Hey, bud. You're a part owner now. You're grown. Your father is gone now, but he left you a ton of potential in the form of that boat. It's time to be a man now. Daddy ain't there to provide for you anymore.

And for the record I don't think Phil did them any favors, at least from what we've seen.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

No, that was from After the Catch, where Sig pointed at Nick and told Edgar that Nick didn't want to fish with him.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Watch it again, he shuts down Sig almost as soon as Sig brings it up. Now maybe he is covering his butt since Edgaar is now in the room (which was my initial impression) but he definitely backed off as Sig seemed shocked when he said it.

Getting back to the Cornelia Marie... watching last week's episode at 11PM (right now)... I have to wonder if Freddy wanted to keep fishing during king crab.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Tony involving the boys in a decision. That is something that Phil (and Derrick, for that matter) should have done a long time ago.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Welcome to the new Cornelia Marie. Same as the old Cornelia Marie.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Freddie's one helluva guy. At least it appears.

Keith's gonna get his *** kicked one of these days by some greenhorn he crosses.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Okay, I don't know what to make of this.

You talking about Whipper on the Seabrooke? I wonder if there is something wrong with his wife. And rather than share that with his brother and the crew he is faking injury as a way to get home. The phone call, the editing and the narration seemed to make it sound like it was more than just missing her and that perhaps there was something more going on. I dont know though.
