Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

I am guessing they are referring to the end where the Captain of the CM says he smelled weed on Jake. Jake had driven the boat the day before and did well, now the new Captain said he will not drive the rest of the season.

oops

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

I wonder how much is due to editing...but I find it interesting that so many boats are having trouble locating crab. The Seabrooke and Northwestern seem to be about it.

Didn't catch that in the preview for next week, but when he was driving the boat my first thought was: "He's stoned." I'd put big money on him not being clean.

Which is sad really. I get the feeling that he wants to be out there and wants to be a major part of the boat but that just cant be tolerated. Even if its something as simple as weed. I know these guys are working on little or no sleep, they are being kept awake by massive amounts of caffeine, and most smoke like a chimney...and sure there are probably some users of variouos kinds in there too. But in that kind of job it seems like the last thing you would want is something that might impair your judgement. Im sure many hopped that his dad's death and his time in rehab would have gotten him to turn things around. But if thats not the case, if I were Josh I would be trying to buy out some of his share of the boat (while also trying to buy out more of others shares) and limit his involvement. Jake just appears to be too much of a liability right now.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

The Cornelia Marie is about this close to coming completely unraveled.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Wow. This poor greenhorn on the Seabrooke has no sea legs at all. I would probably be just as bad though...if not worse. Also I hope Jake Anderson's town soak string produces some good numbers of crab.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Man, Jake is a really common name on these boats... Kodiak, Northwestern, and Cornelia Marie all have a Jake. And all have some drama associated with them

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Who else suspects what happened aboard the Northwestern at the beginning of the last episode was staged? Not so much for the show (although it was great for the show) but for Sig and Edgar to see the reaction of their crew when the fit hit the shan? Or is it just a lucky coincidence that a cameraman was with Edgar in the engine room?

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

Ok, yelling/talking back at the captain, flipping him the bird (on both hands) and then breaking part of the boat...the loudspeaker that the captain uses to talk to the crew no less.....yeah...HUGE NO NO.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

That's one of the best ways I've seen yet to get fired from a boat.

Yeah, but he's easily outperforming everyone else. :p

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

I feel sorry for Derrick on the Cornelia Marie. I feel like he is probably a really good captain and can normally catch the crab. But this just wasnt his time. The deck was probably stacked against him from the get go too. I think Josh was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but Jake I feel almost wanted him to fail from the get go.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

If Josh doesn't step up to the plate and step into the wheelhouse, someone else is going to own that boat before too long.

Yeah, Josh has to be the glue to hold that crew together. And I agree he will be the key to keeping that boat in the family...even if its only a small percentage. I think he has the heart, but he needs to show it.

Re: Deadliest Catch - Season 7

That little talk there by Jake at the end just makes me think he will never be happy with anyone else as captain. But Jake is not captain material himself. So either he needs to suck it up and work with whoever they find next...or he needs to step away. Josh could be a captain. But it still may be too early for him as well.
