Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

And that's why I agree with you completely that rather than censoring them they should be invited to use all the rope they can get their hands on. No curse on them is as effective than merely quoting their own words.

Exactly.
Sunshine is the best disinfectant.
Let 'em walk, let 'em talk, in the bright sun of the public square.

That's the far better solution than where we are now. They festered in the shadows until they not only emerged but were influential.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

I'm deadly aware of what they're up to. Suckering in rubes like you to help normalize their dreadful, hateful behavior and take them off the fringes of society to a point where their "platform" now sits directly next to the president as his top advisor.

But like you said, it was "quite a while back" so maybe we should forget it. Just like Ann Coulter's "How many people have Nazis killed the past 25 years anyway?".

They have the floor.
Let 'em walk, let 'em talk, in the bright sun of the public square.

If Bannon et al is exactly as you say, the American electorate will have them on history's ash heap at 2000 hours Eastern on November 3, 2020. Bank on it. I trust, and continue to trust, the American public.

While everyone else is off doing other things because they don't deserve the time of day, let alone an audience to hear their bile.

No one is questioning their right to speak. We're questioning why you keep listening to them.

Because if you don't pay attention you won't know when the speaking takes the next step to inciting, or action.

It's a hockey forum so the analogy from my officiating days: I'd hear guys chirp back and forth all day; I'll pay enough attention to know where your head is at and how close I need to watch. But feign a punch, or actually throw one? Now we have a problem.

Because quoting Trump directly was really effective...

We got the government we deserved. Democracy means if there are enough creeps then we have a government of creeps. As you say, the people who cast their ballots for Trump knew his message. That means the system worked.

Nowhere does it say we are entitled to the most intelligent or most humane or most sensible government. Only the most representative of the voters. That's what we got.

I'm pretty sure nobody here hates Trump intellectually or viscerally more than I, however his election is something of a triumph for our system. Every institutional control was dead against him (because he is a reckless amoral moron) but he still won. We the People, the man wrote. Not we the educated or we the ethical.

The system worked.

I didn't realize you were in the state patrol, the FBI, or any other agency charged with protecting us from enemies, foreign or domestic.

To continue your hockey analogy, we're not the refs in this scenario. We're the fans who can vote with our dollars by not showing up and causing the team to go bankrupt.

Yup. And it'll work again on November 3, 2020.

I don't have to be the cop. When I see the fight break out, I call the cops.

Until then, they chirp.

And by giving them the attention they crave and some amount of ad revenue based on page hits, you're indirectly supporting them.

You listen once to see if they're loony toons. You listen repeatedly, it's more than mere intellectual curiosity.

Dude.
I read and commented on one article about the "alt-right".
Seriously.
Look back.
But it triggered someone.

I'll bet there are more hits on "alt-right" sites in your browser history than mine.

Considering you've linked to American Thinker and The Washington Times, I doubt it.

Those are not alt-right sites. Right-wing mouthpieces? Sure.
But if you don't like those, how do you feel about my browser history containing Salon and Mother Jones?

Google changed Alt-right to white supremacy, maybe it was someone else but...

I'm the first to admit I am not the most tech-sophisticated person around. But if I read this correctly, if you download this extension onto your computer, every time something on Google or twitter or facebook or the like would read "alt-right", this program would change it so that you, or anyone using your computer, would see the phrase "white supremacy" instead? Meanwhile, for everyone else who hasn't loaded this onto their computer, it still reads "alt-right?"

That can't be correct, is it? If so, that has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Who would do that to their own computer? What, you don't trust yourself to remember that alt-right groups are in many instances white supremacist groups?

Is there some sort of perverse sexual pleasure people get from having their computers make this change for them?
