Dartmouth @ RPI, Saturday, 3/5/22

And the basketball team gets to play next weekend, after beating #8 Wesleyan, 59-58.

Be nice if the hockey team is also in action next weekend.

More important - i got to celebrate with 3 Gimlets!!! We sure do not make it easy for ourselves. That misplay by Watson I thought would be the undoing but he is one stoic young man. Came back strong in the last minutes to be a wall as Dartmouth threw the kitchen sink at him with the extra man on the ice. Congrats to the boys for showing what they bring to the rink. After yesterday could have folded up the tent.
I still do not understand the penalty calls at the end of the second period. They called a slash as our extra penalty that I could not find on the replay and allowed the goalie to score a roundhouse punch that drew a simple 2 minutes. Well, regardless the officiating did not get to decide this one!!!!!!!!!

Ture Linden is a heck of a hockey player, seeing the 2 games in person this weekend, it's much easier to see the little things he does out there. Seller made a heck of a play late back checking, lifted a Dartmouth players stick which prevented something dangerous from happening.

I was at tonight's game and I was camped out by the RAA courtyard under the guest boxes for the entire 2nd period.

The Lacka goal was a great play (he had half a net to shoot at) but the assists by Linden and Leppanen were exquisite.

And I agree with Doc, Stevenson really clocked Lacka with a roundhouse. I didn't see the slash but it seemed to me the punch was more than payback. I thought he'd have gotten some more attention from the ref. And there was plenty of action in front of the Dartmouth bench at 19:57 but I was about 100 feet away from that firefight and didn't get the best look.

The referees came close to losing control of that game--let a little too much go. I think that sequence at the end of the second in front of the Dartmouth goal was influenced by earlier action Lacka took a rough hit a few minutes earlier that wasn't penalized. I was sitting at that end of the ice and couldn't believe Lacka was penalized, but he said in his post-game interview that he took a stupid penalty there.

Won't be able to make this afternoon's game, but will try and catch some of it online. LGR!
