Dartmouth Hockey

Re: Dartmouth Hockey

This is a hard 2 game road trip for the Big Green, but if they play like they did against BU they stand a chance of getting a couple of road wins.

Agreed. They also played extremely well against Union where they came from behind being down 3-0 very late in the second period and won 4-3 in OT. This should be the best talent Dartmouth has in a very long time and an upperclassmen dominated team. We need Dartmouth to defeat BC and DU in the tournament. Supposed to be typhoons in the Philippines

Re: Dartmouth Hockey

A spit on the road, glad to see Dartmouth get 2 points. I wish the ECAC would give a point to the losing team for games that go into OT, similar to the NHL. Give 2 for the winner but 1 for the OT loser. I think it is deserved. Otherwise if you get beat 10-0 there is no difference than that or earning a regulation tie and losing in OT. I think they should reward a regulation tie with a point to both teams and if there is an OT winner, the winner should get 2 points. Glad for the split on the road and QU played better than Dartmouth and should have won the game. Dartmouth has a problem clearing their zone and turning the puck over and has for years. QU took it to them owning the play as a result of turnovers in their zone and at mid ice. They need to clean that part of the game up and other than that I still like the team a lot.

Re: Dartmouth Hockey

Dartmouth is coming back, 5-0-1 of late and scoring a lot of goals. Cornell and Gate this weekend at Thompson Arena should be a treat for those that can attend. Dartmouth still has a chance to win the Ivy League title, as does Cornell and of course Yale. I realize it means nothing to most, but it does for the 6 teams playing for that title. Best of luck to the Big Green this weekend!

Re: Dartmouth Hockey

Boy, you guys don't post very often on your thread! Colgate playing without its starting goalie (Finn) for the weekend due to an injury. Your odds of winning just improved, not that you needed a boost with the way Colgate has been playing!

It's funny how little it seems to mean even to most of the fans of the teams. Personally, I think it's a great achievement, particularly since there is almost always a nationally competitive program among the Ivies.

I agree with you Kepler. It will be a hard road trip to the north country for Dartmouth and Harvard. I am hoping they get 3 points somehow, that would be great. Dartmouth has one Ivy League team remaining to face in Princ., at home. With a little luck they just may win the Ivy League championship, but they will need some help. Great effort last week by Gate in beating Dartmouth in Hanover. I hope Coach Gaudet decides to just go with one goalie the rest of the way. It seems the 2 goalie system has worked but it also has proven who should be in net for the rest of the season and into the playoffs. Best of luck to Dartmouth!

Re: Dartmouth Hockey

Will this team ever win a series in March?? How can a team this talented never win when it counts? Dartmouth has the longest streak of not making the NCAA tournament in Div.1

IMO the most talented team Dartmouth has had in the last ten and probably will have in the next 10. They had everyone returning from last year. They have never won a ECAC Tournament, ever. I thought that for certain, this would be their year. From what I saw, when they played 60 minutes of hockey, they won. Unfortunately, that was not always the case. They beat BU but against Denver they just had a lot of folks standing around. They beat us twice and it did not look like they were extending a lot of effort to do so but they played for 60 minutes. IMO they are losing a boatload of talent. I would put them at the bottom 4 in the ECAC for next year. Just not hungry enough. They had the non-conference schedule to be able to get the quality wins .... did not capitalize on it. Had the talent to beat both BC and Denver but let that slip away.

I feel your pain eddie. Of all the other teams in ECAC play, I was hoping the Green would make it to LP, and maybe beyond. Have a lot of relatives/friends who attended Dartmouth and always wish they could do better when it comes to tourney time. You had a speedy, good play making team...lots of talent. Can't figure why they didn't go further..had some good wins during the season...of course we had something to do with it, but still..... Tyler Sikura is the real deal; a great player. It's too bad this team heavily loaded with seniors and juniors could not reach the Promised Land.

(Where are all the Dartmouth posters?; this thread needs more fans)

Re: Dartmouth Hockey

Dartmouth will not get better until Gaudet is gone, but of course I'm perfectly fine with where he is now. :p

Edit: Funnily enough, the last time Dartmouth made the NCAA tournament was when Gaudet played there as a goaltender in 1980. He was in net for their only two appearances (the other being in 1979) after the formation of the ECAC.

Amen regarding Tyler Sikura. Hope that kid gets his shot in the big one one day.

The ECAC was alive and kicking well before 1979. Check your history.
