Dartmouth Hockey - Because it deserves it

I haven't been following Dartmouth but started to once it took recruit Jesse Allecia from UNH. Dartmouth is currently the number 1 hockey team in the country in the only standings that matter - the NCAA NPI Index.

After decades of a lack of commitment to seriously competing in NCAA hockey, Dartmouth has done a 180.

Dartmouth has an 13,000 foot expansion planned that will be in addition to an 11,000 foot renovation of Thompson Rink. Coach Reid Cashman (Quinnipiac '07) took over in 2021 and and after two terrible seasons in '22 and '23 turned things around with a clear commitment from the institution.

Dartmouth is looking solid so far, but not a ton of non-ECAC matchups. Beating Cornell and Colgate at home gives them some great results, but they still have away trips against both, two games against Quinnipiac and Union, and some other big matchups to be played.

Also wondering what happened with the Ledyard Classic this year. Were potential non-conference opponents already booked for other tourneys/games, or was there something bigger behind the scenes that led to Dartmouth not having some OOC games lined up? Would've hoped to see more than Merrimack and Arizona St as the biggest matchups for the year. Still rooting for Dartmouth this season, but not sure how consistent they'll be in the spring.

Well, Dartmouth gets to play an upstart HEA team in Durham next weekend.

Dartmouth is the "real deal" this year, good for the ECAC. Glad you made a thread for them, congrats !

As Dartmouth's travel partner and with family that graduated from the College, it's good to see the Green high up in the rankings. Time for them to make a run in the NCAAs, although I may be getting ahead of myself!

life and death against army- 1-0 till empty nets- CJ Foley is a monster- dominates play
ice time must be through roof

Next game for the Sun Devils are at your ice. I believe it's to be televised on ESPN? Its always fun to watch OOC games, your team is looking very tough this year!

Happy to see good hockey in Hanover. Expecting a 4way scrap for the ecac title with C, H, & Q. Really surprised after losing key guys (inc underclassmen) the last two years that they came out this strong. Coach is clearly a stud.

They have the right guy in charge for sure. (And I hope nobody reads into that as a slight at former coach Bob Gaudet--it's not. But obviously, the school chose very wisely in selecting his replacement).

Attended the UNH game last night. Very entertaining contest: UNH is the first team that was able to successfully throw the same game Dartmouth plays right back at them. Kudos to the Wildcats for that! As for Dartmouth, I do believe this will be the year they break their 40+ year NCAA tourney drought. No lock, that's for sure, but I think that Cashman has the pieces in place, and that Dartmouth will be a very good team for the forseeable future with who they have, how young they are, and the guys they're bringing in.
