Dartmouth College Hockey...is there anybody else out there?

Re: Dartmouth College Hockey...is there anybody else out there?

For the past three years I've tried to get a Dartmouth thread going to no avail. Haven't bothered to check the forum out this year til now and was surprised as heck to see this. As I'm typing this , Colorado College is beating Alaska three oh. That sucks. We want Alaska to win. Oh well, Lets just go out and win two this weekend and put an end to the waiting and wondering. And to answer your question, Yes we are out here, in this case, in Minnesota

Well, for the third time in the last 10 years, Dartmouth finishes as the last (first?) team out of the tournament, once under the old 12-team format and twice under the 16-team tourney. Not that we can really complain after going 0-5-1 combined against Cornell and Yale, but it's still annoying to get so close once again without getting in.

Re: Dartmouth College Hockey...is there anybody else out there?

sigh... the life of the Dartmouth fan.
Agreed I was so dejected on Friday. I still say RPI does not deserve to get in...they stopped playing 2 weeks ago. We are also an IVY team we play like 5 or 6 games less then every team in the country. I'll admit we had control of our destiny but I still think we should have got in...I hope our Non conference games next year are challenging (more hockey east teams)

Maybe not, but Dartmouth didn't exactly set the world on fire, either. They beat UNH in ManchVegas and Union at home, and that's it as far as beating highly ranked teams. They lost to Yale thrice and Cornell and RPI twice each.

While I'm annoyed at Dartmouth being left out, they kinda did it to themselves this year. All they had to do was beat Yale, Cornell, or RPI once, and they're probably in. And it definitely isn't as annoying as when they missed out by one spot to UNO 5 or so years ago based primarily on UNO's conference strength pulling their numbers up. UNO then promptly got destroyed in the first round 9-2 or 10-1 or something insane like that. At least this time they lost out to a fellow ECAC school, so it's more of a fair comparison.

What if Calculator just adds to the annoyance, yet I can't help myself.

If Dartmouth beats Yale 2-1 at home instead of losing 2-1, it gets in with ease as an 11 seed (interestingly, RPI also jumps to a 12 seed).
If Dartmouth beats Clarkson to end the year instead of losing, it gets in as a 14 seed.

Bah.

5 or 6 FEWER............ also "got" is an acceptable past participle of get, but "gotten" would have been a better choice!!!!

Re: Dartmouth College Hockey...is there anybody else out there?

I always thought the loss to Vermont would come back andhaunt them. It was a game they got off to a bad start, the first three shots on Mello went in, but led in the third period. who knows if it would have made the difference, but the extra win couldn't have hurt. Congrats to Joe Stejskal on a deal with the Canadiens. Maybe now he'll start stepping up again. Wonder if any of the other seniors will get looks? Estoclet????

Re: Dartmouth College Hockey...is there anybody else out there?

I saw the Big Green play Princeton last month in Hanover and they completely dominated. I also watched their solid performance in Manchester against UNH. I thought they were good enough to make the NCAA Tournament.

Re: Dartmouth College Hockey...is there anybody else out there?

Count me in as one more fan out here. Was registered years ago but didn't logon for years, so now under new name. I agree with UNOFan - they had a solid team that could skate with most if not all but the record agst Yale, RPI, Union and Cornell was telling. Losing 2x to RPI further discounts any argument vs them. Semi agst Cornell was brutal with those 2 breakdowns in 26 seconds and no luck despite dominating 2nd and 3rd periods. Gaudet doing a nice job keeping these guys in play most every year. Wondering what happened with the younger Goggin this year. Doghouse, Injury, other. Mark (father) - are you out there ?

What happened to danny markowitz this year?

I've read a number a number places that UNO's loss to Alabama-Huntsville at home, 2-1, in overtime made the difference between Dartmouth being out and RPI getting in, based on TUC's.

My wife, who is not well versed at all in all things Pairwise, asked me to explain this to her, since she saw and heard the same thing, and since UNO never played Dartmouth, or RPI this season. Once I did, her comment was "That isn't fair".

Just wanted you to know that you have an advocate.

It makes it closer, but not quite, at least according to the "What if" calculator. A UNO win flips their comparison with RPI, but RPI still stays in since they still win one more comparison than Dartmouth.

Rob Smith(ECHL), Adam Esoclet(AHL), and Evan Stephans(ECHL) have also signed pro contracts. Congrats!

I feel like Reber could sign one at some point as well

The 2011-2012 Big Green hockey team is back in Hanover and will soon be taking to the ice. Other than new boards, glass, and pipes, what are we expecting to see in Thompson this season???

Hello fans of Dartmouth Hockey-

I just wanted to quickly touch base with you in regards to the Goals For Good project. In short, it's a competitive goal-a-thon between every team in the ECAC, and every team has partnered with a charity in close relation to their team, school, and or community. We're currently looking for more prizes, but as of now, there is $1,000 on the line going to the local food cupboard of the team that raises the most money. Please check out www.goalsforgood.org to learn more and support your team and their charity by way of their goals and wins.

Thank you,
Kevin McNamara
