Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

A tough loss for the Big Green as they come up empty this weekend, culminating with a winnable 3-2 loss to Colgate. They just did NOT seem to have their legs and looked a bit tired. No excuses but the early 4pm game certainly did not help their recovery and travel from the previous night. Special teams special teams again reared its ugly head. Big Green were 0-4 on PP and 2-4 on PK thus and that's the difference. Like I stated at the beginning of the season, if the Big Green wins the special differential or at least come out even, they should be OK but thus far they haven't. Really a lackluster team effort , noting not due to effort but tiredness from the previous night. Congrats to Baker on his first collegiate goal coming against Point who was by far the best player on the ice. Point will play pro, just a matter of when.

Greetings from the Big Green! The Big Green are in their customary "bye" week as they studying for and taking final exams. Let's hope they focus and concentrate on their school work and using the practice time on the ice to relieve stress while also getting better. Good luck to all teams this weekend!

A very Happy Hockey BIG Green Thanksgiving to all! For those traveling be safe as well!

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

It's Game Day in Hanover as the Big Green hosts proximity partner Vermont! This will be interesting as the Big green did not play last week due to finals....will they come out re-energized and re-focused with all that practice time or sluggish due to the long break. Rest or Rust! From afar and just looking at stats this is a very winnable game for the Big Green especially with home-cooking! Go BIG GREEN!

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

Can you say "DISAPPOINTING" about last night's 2-1 OT loss to Vermont and that's after having a couple of weeks to prepare, whether its mentally or physically (rest up)? Big Green came out on fire dictating play and scoring on a PP (see what happens when you put pucks on net) with Jasiek being the benefactor of the nice bounce. While controlling play throughout the first, a Vermont player comes in 1 on at least 3 maybe 4 and puts a harmless wrister just inside the blueline that beats Clark. That one play changed the entire complexion of the game as now Vermont carried the play for the rest of the game into OT and the GW goal. BTW Clark was outstanding save for that goal. When I stated at the beginning of the season, who will replace Crema and his offensive output...thus far no one and not even collectively. This team is challenged to score goals. Move forward and move south to Q and P for next week's road games.

Any thoughts thus far in the season slapperjack? I would appreciate some help on this BIG Green thread such as some "homies"

Hi Big Green,

I will be in Hanover for the Bentley game on December 9th. Bentley has had a rougher start than your team this season, but the Falcons swept RMU this past weekend. Looking forward to warmer fish chowdah than the last time I was there. :-)

Sorry you are out of luck no chowder this year as EBA's is gone.

Correct, I believe EBA closed-down last spring as people are opting for delivery service such as Domino's! Hanover institution bitten by mass market...what a shame!

Nice!!! I would highly recommend Tuk Tuk if you are in to authentic Thai food and can wash that down with a Singha or Tsingtao as your substitute for chowdah! Of course your basic bar/pub would be Salt Hill Pub, Molly's, Murphy's, etc!

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

You have about 4 players mentioned here BG ..... Prep Hockey: Preseason All-Prep Teams..... http://www.hockeyjournal.com/nehock...?articleId=1244356&app=false#articleId1244356

Hey turk181! Thanks as usual for your insight in our hockey prospects! I know you mentioned LeSueur 99' as as nice forward, given what I copy and pasted from College Commits below, do you think he will be with the Big Green next year. Also sounds like Jack Cameron D another 99' is good player...does he stand a chance of making the Big Green next year as well? Finally, do you know these other commits? I owe your an iced cold one!

018-19 Ferguson, Justin G 1997 Cameron, Jack LD 1999 Smith, Cameron C 1997

Thanks for the tip, BG. I will try to arrive early for a visit to Tuk Tuk, or Molly's, Murphy's, or Salt Hill Pub.

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

It's back to ECAC weekend hockey with the BIG green traveling south to hook up with Princeton and Quinnipiac. The Big Green have fared well against Princeton but they are now vastly improved while the Big Green has always had trouble with Q. Scoring the first goal is an absolute must as the Big Green is scoring-challenged along with a plus or bare minimum of zero in the special teams battle. Go BIG Green!

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

While one would think it cannot get any worse we’ll it just did last night. This was a downright embarrassment, Going into the game, I believe Princeton was the better team but not 9-2 better. Neutral zone and especially D zone were the culprits last night. Turn overs and defending counters were a major problem. I do not know what happened to Buffalo as he did not start but he should be in goal as the other two got lit up. Re group and re focus and salvage the weekend tonight vs Q where the Big Green has perennially has trouble.

Re: Dartmouth BIG Green Hockey: 2017-18 Season

Having been absolutely embarrassed by a good Princeton team, the Big Green regroups with a hard-fought scoreless TIE against Q. Q was the better team the entire night but just could not convert. I guarantee those same chances would have been buried by the Q team a few years back and the onslaught would have continued. The positives: Clark was great in goal getting the 43 save shut out but he had a lot of help from his team D with many blocked shots and to shut out a Q's team's PP is tremendous; mental resolve to bounce back after getting shellacked the night before. The areas of improvement: could not find way to get a goal and a W for Clark; PP again with bad entries and no sustained zone time; clean and clear exits out of the D zone; awareness for that one extra pass (not overpassing) to wide open guy and net). Way to salvage the weekend BIG Green!
