Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. We outshot em but couldn't put em away. Lets get them tomorrow.

I have to think Coach Kennedy and the Knights were very proud of their effort last evening. The Tigers came out and appeared the team with game experience and were on the verge of running the Knights out of the Ice Works Arena 4 midway in the first period. The adjustments they made enabled them to stop the bleeding and wear down the Tigers. RIT D were not able to handle the big Neumann forwards at the top of the crease and the Neumann forwards were able to control play by the third period. I remember thinking how physical last season's Tigers were (the thrashing they handed Amherst and Midd come to mind), yet the Knights out muscled them (especially the Tiger D).
I have to take this as a tie that was a plus for Neumann and raises some questions about RIT. RIT has some great players and will surely do well this season, but every point is huge in the ECAC-West and this was a conference game they had in hand and let slip away. Teams that win the ECAC-West or NCAA do not let that happen, first game or any game.
Great first game of the season from the spectator perspective. Sorry not to be able to hang in Aston for the rematch, but there is way too much to do around the ranch.

I am confused by the outshot??? According to college hockey stats Neumann had 26 shots and RIT had 25....seems pretty close to me. Perhaps one team had more scoing chances, but the stats do not reflect that. Looks like two pretty even teams. Should be a good one today.

This was a great recap....thanks obserbear, perhaps I should have read this before my previous reply. I do believe looking at the RIT D, they look a little young (many rookies) and it is a large step for them from their previous team to college hockey. Strength and skating is key, and this will take them perhaps a year or so to get strong enough. There are no freshman D. that compare to Owczarczak (transfer) or Littman (graduated) this year.

Outthinking myself, sorry. I was looking more at the shots in the last two periods where Neumann had more shots. However, you are right again on the scoring chances. I wish there was a stat listed for scoring chances and even better yet, quality scoring chances.
I am hoping the Neumann sees that they can play with RIT from the beginning and don't come out slow as they appeared to have yesterday.

Adrian is really surprising me with their losses so far...clearly Neumann is a dangerous team this year...The LFC/Superior game isnt that surprising...Superior's first game...the difference is the late period goal...Lake Forest isn't a bad team..etc.

Excited to watch the game today!

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

UWS 0 Lake Forest 0

Tuned in about half way through the first...appeared UWS was controlling play for the most part...shots 5-4 in favor of LFC.

Period 2 starting
