D3 18-19 season

Re: D3 18-19 season

I absolutely agree. I accepted a while ago that Plattsburgh probably needs St. Thomas to lose a game if they want to host. Maybe the math will surprise us, but I doubt it.

Now where's Shelfit to tell us that because Plattsburgh won the Championship in 2012 that they are the far superior team this year. :P

Remember Middlebury plays two against Williams this weekend. If Midd wins both and Plattsburgh beats Midd Tuesday it could all come down to who knows what ! Regardless they both need to win in the qtrs of the tourney to even have a chance to host.

Again, I'm pretty sure it's out of Plattsburgh's hands. The teams are obviously very close right now as they've flip-flopped #1 and #2 for the last several weeks. Plattsburgh has one game that is against a good team, while St. Thomas has 2, 3, or 4 of them. I maintain that the #1 seed is St. Thomas' to win. And they've earned it.

As for being undefeated and automatically being #1, see St. Anselm on the Div I Pairwise....

St Anselm does not play enough D1 teams to qualify for the tournament. You must play at least 20 games against D 1 opponents.

Not sure how that is, Hamline is currently number 13 on the pairwise and Middlebury is number 7. We will see.

No it is in Clinton,NY. Original home of the Utica (Clinton) Comets. It is also Hockeyville for 2019.

Utica...wow. I think I spent a month there one weekend. Used to have a bumper sticker that read "Utica - Last one out, please turn off the lights!

Spwood's wishes might be coming true.

Hamline is up 2-0 in the 2nd on two power play goals.

I'm getting a chance to watch St. Thomas for the first time this season and Hamline the 2nd. Tommies came out skating extremely fast but they missed on a few key passes, including almost connecting a stretch pass to the player coming out of the box on their first PK. Their lack of discipline and the Pipers' ability to keep the puck in their attacking zone has been their undoing so far.

Question to any MIAC/western division fans who might care to answer: during the first period I noticed a couple of times where skaters were late to the face off, delaying it but the center didn't get bounced out like I'm used to seeing during Plattsburgh games. Is that not a thing in MIAC/western division hockey or are these refs just lenient?

St Thomas scores to take the 3-2 lead with less than a minute remaining

St Thomas stays undefeated!

Incredible comeback. The crowd was incredibly loud for a women's regular season conference game. Both teams will be incredibly tough in March should they get to the national tournament.

Also, probably the best video production I've seen from a program that didn't hire an announcer. Camera operator was pretty good at following the action, which seems simple but I've seen it go bad wrong with some of Plattsburgh's road opponents recently.
