D-3 hockey and 9/11

Re: D-3 hockey and 9/11

Piece about former Bowdoin goalie Frank Doyle ('95) who died in the WTC on 9/11; includes a remembrance of Doyle from Bowdoin Coach Terry Meagher, who said Frank was probably the fastest goalie he has ever coached or played with. Does anyone know of any D-III hockey players who perished on 9/11 or were first responders?

Not D3, but the hockey family ...

Re: D-3 hockey and 9/11

Not to diminish the focus on 9/11, but there was a dIII women's player who died in the plane crash in Buffalo in 2009...Her name was Madeline "Maddy" Loftus. She was a Buff State women's team alum heading back to Buffalo to play an alumni game when the Continental Connection regional flight from Newark went down.

Certainly doesn't diminish, rather adds to the remembrance. There's a 5k sanctioned by USA Track and Field, MADdash 5k, that raises mone for her eponymous scholarship fund. http://www.maddash2013.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1058536
