Wrong. I do agree there were some missed calls throughout the game (that 2 min shoulda been a CFB, for example) but those two calls I'll stand by. I did think it was a dive at first, until I saw the replay. He got his stick in there pretty good on that one.

But is that a call you make late in the 3rd period when you've been ignoring pretty much everything all game? At what point is it appropriate to decide all of the sudden you're going to stop swallowing the whistle? That's my biggest issue with, really, all three penalties late in the 3rd. Could they have tried any harder to get Wisconsin back in the game?

And I'd say the two I have no prob with were rather blatant (again, one on the replay; that one in realtime coulda been tripping/embellishment combo).

And with apologies, maybe don't let WI score on the exact same PP play for that 3rd goal.

Overall, MI outplayed WI, but couldn't finish their opportunities.

And if anyone wants to claim some bias, I'm surprised they haven't brought up the goal crease situation (the one where MI defended twice from).

What was the deal there? Our seats were waaaaaay too low in that endzone, so we could only see what was on the screen when they were fixing it/peek through the door when they opened it to go to work. Was there a hole in the ice?

Yeah, they were fixing it every 15-20 minutes or so, and there was talk of "splitting" the third period, with teams switching ends, but that didn't happen. It was dead center of the crease.

Great hockey game, but I didn't realize it until I got home and watched it on my DVR. I couldn't see **** from my seats, but at least it was a hell of an atmosphere. Hats off the the BTN for a heck of a broadcast. Hopefully this continues.

Boring game to me except the final 8 minutes or so of the 3rd and first 10 or so of the first. the entire 2nd period was a snoozefest.

Michigan really clogged the neutral zone and made it difficult for UW to play run n' gun.

I think these 2 teams are very evenly matched and I'm pretty **** surprised Michigan isn't having a better season thusfar in terms of victories.

For UW - That 2nd goal was awful. Gudmanson should have never let that in.
The 4th line sucked IMO.

Highlights were B. Smith (obviously), Stepan and Murray had GREAT games, and both McDonagh and Gardiner made some nice moves with the puck. I also noticed Ben Grotting with some really great hustle that kept puck possession in instances where I thought UW would lose it.

...I had forgotten how the wind blows through camp randall. ****.

Goody was caught sleeping and out of position on that 2nd goal, but he made some great saves. Bennett would have given up more in this game, IMO. Goody has his share of clunkers, but he's our #1 goalie at this point and should start every post season game. I don't mind the rotation for the remainder of the regular season to keep him fresh, but that is how I would manage the goalie situation.

On the first statement, as you witnessed tonight, Michigan allows soft goals (goal #1 tonight), takes unnecessary penalties (end of game) and its NHL draft picks aren't playing like your NHL draft picks in Smith and Stepan. The offense isn't there to overcome these mistakes, which seem like they happen game in and game out.

I think Michigan's 2nd goal deflected off of the Wisconsin d-man glove and redirected into the top corner. Think the angle surprised him a bit.

I'm going to say that Michigan is a **** tough team and will be a **** tough draw for whomever plays them in the NCAA's....that's assuming they get in cause they're down a bit in PWR, but still I can't see them not making a run...

for UW. lots of room for improvement. yeah, they won tonight but could easily have gone the other way.

as for penalties. I was on the north corner of the east end zone. no idea if the penalties called were legit cause I wasn't close enough to see them well enough to judge. What I do find surprising is michigan (IIRC) didn't have one penalty until the third, and overall there were only 2-3 called through 2 periods, and at-times that was some really rough hockey on both sides, and both teams maybe skating a bit close to the edge there.

anyway, penalties called or not called, good teams should overcome them in the end.

There was an article later on that stated McLeod's primary reason for rejecting the matchup was because they weren't going to have replay. Thus by league rule that all league games must have replay capabilities, he fiirmly denied the proposal.

That's a cop-out excuse for McLeod, quite frankly. Instead of taking a little risk with a chance of big reward, he tucks his tail between his legs and runs away...

Could UW be looking at this or am I an idiot....

Would about $15.00 have been "perfect"? At $15, 70,000 seats would be needed to match 45,000@$24. ($1,050,000)

Just a thought, were they "banking' on 45,000 and anything over that a bonus?; not sure where I stand on this.

Well, you bring up a good point - that the revenue maximizing price and the attendance maximizing price are not the same thing.

Of course, it didn't need to be that way - UW could have varied the pricing structure based on section a little more in order to fill more seats.

Yes Pucky, I'm sure you really do have better things to do in life than whine about the refs. I'm sure, during a big game, you would never complain about things you couldn't control. Like on the score updates thread during tonight's game for instance

I missed the sticky note that says that nobody is allowed to question the deity status of Red Berensen. Next time I will wait until after the game and whine about the refs like the others.

Hogan sure whined about his crease a lot. Gudmanson didn't seem to have a problem with it in the 2nd period.
