Cronin - Parker Spat

Re: Cronin - Parker Spat

When a coach grabs a player from another team, that usually results in an escalation of the disagreement. Usually, not a favorable outcome on either side. I think Bertagna's letter is an attempt to stop this behavior and to send a message to all coaches in Hockey East.

Appears to me that it was an isolated incident. That's why I don't think a letter this long after it happened was necessary. Especially when both coaches admitted right after the game that it was just a big misunderstanding. Bertagna has had chances to step up and take care of some much bigger issues, but hasn't done it.

I picture Bertagna always as "Bush in front of the classroom."

Re: Cronin - Parker Spat

Jack Parker is a man of one fewer jacket are Cronin stole one? I would feel safer running off with Jerry York's sweater vest or Dick Umiler's turtleneck than one of Jack's jackets.

You mean those things he wears that looks like they were made from the material that covers the back of my grandmother's couch. Nobody, but nobody, would steal one of those, not even Stevie Wonder.

Re: Cronin - Parker Spat

Wow Parker must be shocked! We should get him a monkey and a tin cup for all of his complaing.

I think we already established that neither Parker or Cronin took this seriously and probably tossed the letter right into the trash.

I believe his intention is to coach until those jackets are back in style again...

...looks like we're in this for the long haul BU fans

My guess would be that neither of them was very pleased to receive the letter of reprimand, especially Parker. He's been in the league forever, and probably figures he doesn't need to be admonished, particularly at this point in his career. As an official document that goes in the personnel file, it probably affects Cronin much more than Parker down the road.

Re: Cronin - Parker Spat

Parker grabbed and got in Bobby Butler's face at a game at BU last year during the handshake. I distincly remember Butler having a "what the hell is this guy so PO'd about" look on his face.

Re: Cronin - Parker Spat

From what I gather about the incident, the entire thing was escalated because of poor communication from the officials in telling NU to leave the ice before the handshake line. I hope the officials, too, received letters of reprimand.

I'm sure Jackie took it personal. Has to be a real kick to the ego. After years of bullying his way into being able to do whatever he wants Bertagana stood up to him. I bet within the month Federal League will have a story about Bertie missing an "optional" coaches meeting.

Re: Cronin - Parker Spat

Oh no! A letter of reprimand! Do they have until next Friday to return it to the commissioner with a parent's signature on it?

I could not agree more with the above sentiment, but the incident regardless of the circumstance surrounding the matter was nothing more than "par for the course" with Boston University and its coach.

Irrespective of Boston University's third place finish in Hockey East they were clearly a team on the decline as the season ended. Longtime observers of Hockey East knew full well that regardless of the Terriers' home ice advantage going into the quarterfinals Northeastern was the better team and that things were going to get ugly when the Huskies ousted the Terriers from the tourney. ...and they did.

It is of no importance that Parker may or may not have been engaged in peacekeeping efforts. The fact that an incident occured should be of no surprise to anyone who has seen these teams play in the past and the matter was simply a reflection of the entitled environment that Parker has cultivated at Boston University.

Perhaps the off season will be a time of reflection for Coach Parker and he will do us all a favor and take is his tired, classless, foul-mouthed act into retirement.

Way to comment on this issue a month after it happened you idiot. Everything you just said was based completly on your hatred of Coach Parker for whatever your reasons are. Maybe you are still living in the Cornell-BU rivalry from the ECAC days or maybe you just hate Parker for his style.

1. BU was clearly on the decline in the second half of the season? They had not lost a conference game since Jan21st before the last game of the season against NU. The Beanpot was a disaster but you can't say the team was on the decline.

2. If Northeastern was the better team why didn't they have the home ice? Northeastern was on a hot run but the series still went 3 games and was decided one goal so saying NU was clearly the better team is just wrong.

3. Things got ugly because the refs asked Northeastern to leave the ice not BU you idiot. Nevermind NU's coach made the mistake of grabbing a BU player not the other way around. We have established Clendening should not have told Cronin to shutup and was wrong also but this is no way comes back to Parker who was not happy with Clendening for what he said.

4. How is this incident come back to an entitled environment? Northeastern isn't used to winning and was taunting BU who isn't used to losing in the HEQF's their was bad blood in the series but I don't blame one side or another for that. It happens when you play someone five straight games.

5. The only reason you want him to retire is because he has done alot more with BU than whatever coaches of your team have. Let it go you idiot.

Strange that there was no incidence of ugliness at the end of the 2011 Beanpot championship game nor at the end of the Hockey East semifinal between Northeastern and Boston College. Perhaps you did not catch those games. Too busy eating your "petiscos" and watching Benfica, eh Port-o-gee?

. Yeah you caught me... Oh wait your argument is that there wasn't a fight at the end of bc nu so there shouldn't have been for bu nu. You are an idiot. You can blame Parker for alot of things but that fight is not one of them. Parker even congratulated nu after. And didn't the Portuguese discover brazil? If it weren't for my ancestors you wouldn't even be here haha That's what I thought
