So if there has been a million tests done and there is currently around 165k cases that equals 16.5% of all tested are positive.

If there is 330 million people that is 54 million people by the same ratio.

Using the accepted numbers of 15% hospitalization and 5% critical care that is over 8 million and 2.7 million respectively.

I don't even know what this is.

I have a feeling that by not being on Twitter and Facebook I am occupying a different universe than you. The question is, which universe is bigger, yours or mine? It could be either. I don't know what their actual penetration is -- the size of the group for which it is actually a non-trivial component of their life, and for whom the messaging they see there actually affects their thinking.

I'll give you this: I could be completely missing a substantial component of the national political dialog by being off mass platform social media, so I may not be able to judge whether these narratives actually have any power. I totally missed the Russian interference in 2016 -- never even saw the memes.

Is that fair? It isn't denial, it's just being disconnected. Willingly.

Blue Check marks are verified accounts. That means they arent bots or randos...they are usually some sort of person in the public eye and they are the person they say they are. Media members, celebrities, athletes, politicians...etc.

Look if "Berner 2020 or Die" wants to tweet to his 5 friends how Biden is scum and he wont vote for him that is one thing. In that case you are right. But when people with credits from say "The New Republic" or "The Nation" do it (or imply he is a rapist) it is a completely different thing. There is a segment of the Bernie following (again not the bots the verified accounts) that are no different than the Faux/OANN reporters spreading misinformation and dividing. And as you always say...we need to shine the light on this.

Are you saying that there are trusted public figures who are accusing Biden of being a rapist? Or are you saying they are serving as the conduit for crazies (or bots) to inject that into the national bloodstream by retweeting those accusations? And if the latter are they doing so in trying to rebut them or are they cynically passing it along to gather clicks or approvals or whatever the social media currency they monetize is?

Superficially (I exited quickly before I caught something) it reminded me of those sites that meticulously track the Clintons' every move (to accuse them of being pizza pedophiles or grey aliens). Dump is a cancer, yes, but the constant drumbeat looked really unhealthy.

Is it possibly some incel running a fake account in order to discredit genuine criticisms of Dump?

Not sure what the 54 million figure is getting at. If you're trying to figure out infectinos, that's bad math. You're more likely to get tested if you're sick. It also doesn't preclude you from getting sick if you test negative.

I know you're smarter than that, so that's why I'm curious what you're getting at.

Illinois is rumored to be extending shelter-in-place until April 30th or May 7th. Governor Pritzker will be making his announcement at 2:30 CDT.

Also, Pritzker has stated that of 300,000 masks sent from the federal governement, they received (useless) surgical masks and not the N95 masks that were asked for.

We had over 400 cars parked at the AMC center in Pinkham Notch Saturday, people up to hike and ski Tuckerman's Ravine. Half of those from out of state(Mass, RI, Conn., NY.) Gathering on the deck at the lodge, in the parking lots, up at Lunch Rocks.

Forest Service shut everything down Sunday.

People are stupid.
