This is what I dont get as well. The entire tone seems to have shifted. The media, because it seems NY is slowing down slightly, is acting like the worst is over. Meanwhile every state is adding cases still, deaths are holding steady at over 2k a day and people are taking more and more risks because they cant handle that their burrito at Chipotle is taking 5 minutes longer than usual.

4 weeks ago there was 268 deaths attributed to COVID-19. We have added 50k deaths in 4 weeks. And California is just now starting to throw up huge numbers. We havent even started yet...

Because that's where Donnie shifted it, and the spineless media just follows along. We'll be at 60,000 by middle of next week, the number Donnie and everyone was saying would now be the bottom line.

We have an early leader for correction of the millennium.

Whitmer relaxed a few things, such as golfing, boating, and buying garden stuff from Meijer. Didn't catch all of what she said, though.

100k is the new "bottom."

Congrats to the next 40,000 deaths for helping "only get to the bottom."

So when we hit 100k is that like a kill screen in a video game? Is that when it "magically disappears"?

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

At one of my plants yesterday the plant manager has moved the goalposts with wholly made up numbers as far as the coronavirus is concerned. He doesn't understand why we took this so seriously when everybody knows the flu kills 120,00-160,000 every year in this country.

My assumption is that perhaps those kinds of #s are now trending on the social media outlets that half of all Americans (and probably 90% of all trump supporters) rely on for their news? It wouldn't surprise me as the idiots have to find justification for their idiocy, and made up statistics and lies to these idiots carry far more weight than the verifiable truth.

I corrected him by pointing him to more accurate numbers where the CDC estimated that two seasons ago, in a fairly robust season for the virus, an estimated 60,000 died, and we haven't seen 160,000 or more dying from the flu since the 1918 pandemic. And that was WITHOUT the extreme measures we have taken in the fight against the coronavirus, and it was over a full season, 6+ months, not 6+ weeks.

People are so stupid it frightens me. Someone posted the Bonhoeffer quote about stupidity being more dangerous than evil recently, from his Letters and Papers From Prison. My how it fits the times we live in today. The idiot I was speaking to yesterday is likely much more evil than stupid, but what can be done when the stupid pose as great or greater a threat than the merely evil? It isn't as if enough of them are going to be exposed to the coronavirus and drink a gallon of bleach.
