That's a simple place to start. It's regulated and the people involved can't just skip out and not enforce the rules like a restaurant/bar can with masks.

The attempted vaccine mandate has been pretty much overturned, for that matter, some states have made it illegal to have a vaccine mandate. We had mask mandates, and they were fought- and some states have banned mask mandates. We had social distancing, and some states have forced that to effectively end.

This is all about the right wing of this country fighting any good ideas to stop the virus at every single attempt. Within government, too.

How the heck can Florida pass a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate when they have banned both mandates???

One thing that we should have been doing since July of 2020 was making rapid tests free and everywhere. I know - you can get them cheaply (relatively), but they should be free. And there shouldn't be shortages. Use the DPA. Buy enormous quantities and mail them to everyone. Put them in pharmacies, grocery stores, bodegas, coffee shops, McDonalds. Yes, many would be wasted. But even more would be used. Surveillance testing is effective and takes away the idiotic stigma among the derp brigade.

I know why The Former Guy didn't do this, but as much as I approve of the job Biden has done, this is a big failing in my opinion.

The other long term issue is what does this do to our hospitals? Our schools?

How many doctors and nurses quit just cause they're so burned out from two years of this now? Seen too much death? Sick and tired of the families blaming them for their loved ones death, cause they wouldn't treat them with horse paste or malaria pills? Physically attacked them for it?

Government health department employees dealing with the anti-vaxxers doing the same. The threats, the intimidation?

Same with teachers, school boards and administrators. The anti-mask, anti-vaxxer mobs attacking them because they simply don't like the safety measures they are implementing. Using their numbers and threats to intimidate.

What does this loss of experience and expertise mean for our country in the long run? Does it ever recover from this, or has the damage been done?

There's so much more to this pandemic and its effects than just whether a person gets sick or not, lives or dies.

Why is Remdesivir the only main drug approved for Covid anyone have a good answer for that?

Remdesivir is the main drug for covid…was dropped halfway thru a year-long 2018 ebola study for a 53% mortality rate— causes kidney failure which looks curiously like covid pneumonia.
