mRNA has a number of benefits (so far, mostly theoretical, but now we're seeing actual data yay!):
  • cheaper and faster to manufacture than previous vaccines
  • Substantially shorter timelines for modification/development
  • Potentially more effective as they can very specifically target identifiable parts of the virus
  • Absolutely no possibility of infection (depending on the vaccine, that is the case with others as well)
  • Easy to modify to face changing strains

You can tell the GOP power structure is worrying about that which is why Mitch and Scalise and others (while blaming the Dems for China or something) are begging people to get vaccinated. It isn't working, because even Trump getting the vaccine isnt convincing them. You told a bunch of uneducated people a virus was fake, the vaccine was a joke and better cures existed for months. These people staked their lives on it, their reputations and their patriotic self worth...they aren't going to change their mind now just because you say so.
 
I like the guy who says the school is teaching his kid he is racist (sure they are) which is BS because he can't be racist they watched Family Matters and Fresh Prince! Can that mean someone isn't a rapist because they watch Law and Order: SVU?

If McConnell and McCarthy are worried they can just get on the teevee and say "the Demoncrats have tried to scare you off the vaccine because they want to kill you, but we have always recommended you get vaccinated. Don't let the Demoncrat party murder your precious white babeez!!!"

If MA continues its current trajectory through the weekend I'll be back to masking inside anywhere I go. I've been vaxxed since December, but a mask isn't exactly a big deal anymore.


Unless you're a Republican, in which case it's apparently the worst thing ever perpetrated on us.
