Too many of the rapid tests return false negatives for that to be a reliable solution. Particularly for asymptomatic carriers, which many vaccinated & boosted cases are.

True. But better than not testing at all, isn't it?

And I know people will lie about their symptoms just to board a plane. Some won't, but it's the people hiding the symptoms that are the dangerous ones.

Seems that something needs to be done- between the health of their employees and the health of the bottom line, airlines are bleeding money because sick people are boarding planes. And that spreads the virus to who knows where.

If that's what it takes, so be it. Just start testing airline passengers. That should help slow down the spread.

Proof of vax and negative test at the airport or no fly. And start it the first NFL playoff week.

Create a Whiskey Rebellion and suppress it.

The only way this works without causing a riot is if the airlines are also required to issue a full refund to vaccinated travelers who are turned away by a same-day positive test, regardless of fare class.

Given the odds, it's cheaper to do that than cancel entire flights. Especially if they offer a postponed travel date. There are FAR more angry people now than just the ones who would be turned away with healthy flight workers.

Well after the self-reported vaccination status hovered at 72%, 73%, 84%, and 92%, for my company's 4 US locations, they finally decided to mandate vaccination (including boosters) for all ~2500 employees -- including fully remote employees. Everyone has to submit documentation proving they're fully vaccinated or their employment will be terminated sometime next month.

Since I'm fully remote, I hadn't been in any rush to submit my updated vaccination card that shows my booster, but I just uploaded it now.
